Introducing BUG and SAMMY…

The Fireball Homestead has a a new crew. Kathie and I welcomed into our House of Flame, two tiny 9 week old Cockerpoos. BUG and SAMMY. Huge car enthusiasts, especially movie cars. They like HERBIE a lot.

BUG looks like a little Cop Car and Sammy looks like a troublemaker. (They both are, actually) Flew them in from the Nebraska cold to California Cool. And they’re diggin’ the new home with lottsa sniffins. They’ll have their own book soon just like SMOKEY and BANDIT did.

When you see them at car shows, I hope you’ll give them a warm welcome,… California Style. Oh, and an email from a good friend of mine…

Sad day at WARNER BROS…

…Out the door at 9:30am today to head across town to Warner Bros Studios. Yes, the Batman Lot. Although, there was no sign of Batman today. Nor Speed Racer, nor a sequel to BLADE RUNNER. (But they were prepping TERMINATOR 4 SALVATION, but I can’t show you that..) Oh, and even the General Lees are off duty…

Point is, WB was a ghost town. With the writer’s strike on a full court press, the studio was void of virtually all activities. Bummer. Haven’t seen this in a lot of years. Way bummer because my brother, Ethan, and his wife Dee are writers. Good writers. No,… great writers. But, they’ve got to do what they’ve got to do and I support them. Even though I had to go onto the lot. My buddy, Ron Stansberry is head of Construction Services and I paid him a visit. Supposed to be a big layoff tomorrow. Grrr….

Then I was off to CINEMA VEHICLE SERVICES to check on the progress of this cool machine. Check out the before and after. These guys are good….

Then it off to my tax guy. But I don’t need to get into that… Talk about a bummer…;-) But, all in all, just another day in the life of dorkness. But, I do have a wee surprise coming tomorrow. Okay, a BIG surprise….

Designing is like…

Interesting morning.

Since DESIGN is my thing, and I love to do it, it doesn’t matter what I design. Which is why I try to do all kinds of cool things. Cool stuff coming from MILLUSIONS, APG, CAR TATTS, NUTS TOKYO WATCHES, RIDEMAKERZ, BIOMETICS, MYRIDE and more. Hmm, there must be a car in there somewhere.

But designing for film is like that. One minute, you’re doing a vehicle, the next it’s a pocket watch or sock. WHATEVER! Building a brand is much like building a car. Many times you’re trying to stick a hoolawag into a fahurglesnot. And you don’t even know where you pimpleporch is!! But, if you’re persistent, then it ALWAYS works out. So, keep moving towards your goal.

Oh, and check out the fantastic book. PSYCHO PICTOGRAPHY.

Mini Maniacs take over SANTA ANITA…

I do a lot of events. I mean, close to 70 a year. But this one I always look forward to because THESE are my homies. Southern California MINI Maniacs.

Standing at a podium and acting stupid is an art. And since I’m the King of Stupid, they keep calling me back to MC a group of 200 crazed MINI enthusiasts. And boy, do we have fun.  It all takes place at the SANTA ANITA RACETRACK in …where else.. Santa Anita, CA. Great food, great raffle prizes and bettin’ on horses. And since I bet last year and won $5, I thought I’d just revel in the fact that I’m still a winner and just do the MC thing. Even my Dad, Fireball Pops, was there.

Lots of people won cool swag, but some won Canon Cameras and Garmin GPS doodads.

So, if you have a MINI, want a MINI, dream of having a MINI, or just have nothing to do, …then, get into a club. A chance to be with people and have fun.

Special thanks to all the MINI Dealers that participated, President Lex and George Marsh for the cool pix.

CES (Consumer Electronics Expo) The Post…

CES 2008. The World’s Largest Trade Show. 160,000 people, all selling things with screens in them. If I saw one more screen, I was gonna pop a corpussel. (Is that how you spell corpussle?) Probably not, but I’d still pop one.

Walking was the name of the game for Fireballed COO Howard and I. Like SEMA, only 3 times bigger. …And with screens. But boy, did we have fun! Tons of cool products that made NO SENSE AT ALL, cool cars, gorgeous women,… and screens. Loosely, from top to bottom reveals Spiderman and a Transformer walking the show. Spidey was wearing cool Spidey shoes with Dr. Shoals. Transformer dude just went around squashing screens.

Awesome paint schemes abounded the show, but cars were hard to find behind all the… screens, so we scoured looking. ARMCHAIRTANKMAN rolled about for no apparent reason other than to look at screens and the women, but I’d have to say, if I had a lazy boy like that, I’d be hard pressed to ever get up.

MY chair was at the race gaming section. COULDN’T PRY ME AWAY! Radical fun race game that Howard says will be coming to the Studio Shop. Cut to, HOW MUCH IS THAT THING?!!! Onward…

Lots of cool music doodads, including this oblong thingamajig that plays all kinds of hooliwatts. And,… it’s chrome. Cool.

Just like Howard to find the “World’s Largest HD Camcorder.” And it works, too! He had a bit of trouble getting it into his car, though.

Several MINIS showed up. Lottsa ice in them, and screens. But the exteriors really needed to be Fireballed. Workin’ on that one. But the sound was cool.

Incredible paint on this Charger. Hand done airbrush.

All in all, the show rocked, but I was aloof at some of the products that seemed, shall we say, dumb. And we walked for two days. Approximately 52 miles. Okay, small exxaggeration,… only 32 miles. …We’ll spend the next 2 weeks going through the 500 business cards.

Oh, and the women were nice, too. On a scale from BORING to FIREBALLED, I give it a SMOLDER LICK.

Stay tuned… SCMM Santa Anita Party!

CES Las Vegas bad preview…

Okay, yes, I’m at CES in Vegas. But no, the internet service in the hotel sucks bigtime. So, no preview ’til tomorrow. Sorry, folks. But the show is way outta control with 160,000 people! Stay tuned for cool shots…

Happy New Year!

Wow, 2008. I always thought that that was the future. And WHAM! Here we are. And despite the future staring me in the face, there’s no Captain Kirk, no whirring Jetsons bubblemobiles and no Deckard racing around shooting at Replicants. (Although Blade Runner is supposed to be 2017, so there’s still time.)

All in all, the future is pretty bright. And I am very thankful for being. Despite the hardships of life, it’s of the utmost importance to stay focused on the positive.  Yea, I know, life is not all chocolate cherries, but for the most part, you have to admit that life is pretty damn cool. Friends, family, movies, chocolate and cars. We all have that.

So, let us all enter 2008 with a smile if we can. And work together to bring abundance in all ways. I’m raising my cup of hot cocoa to you all. Cheers,… AND LET’S KICK SOME SERIOUS 2008 BUTT!!!
