Hangin’ in HOUSTON…

 622005s_houston_skyline.jpg

Sitting in a chair in my room at the Doubletree Hotel in Houston, I’m thinking, it’s time to see some seriously weird cars. Yesterday, we filmed at the new DELOREAN factory for an upcoming episode of MyRide. Nuts. Yes, new ones are coming and sooner than you think. But today, we’re off to the ART CAR PARADE. Photos on Monday, but from what I’ve been told, the cars are WAY OFF KILTER!

So, it’s with anticipation that I delve into these vehicular beasts.

Oh, and if you’re going to Houston, don’t stay at the Doubletree. I’ve had to move my room because the TV, Phones and Internet don’t work. Then, the Front Desk and In-Room dining don’t answer. Lame. Not to mention the construction next door up until 8pm.

Do they have a cool hotel at the Space Center?

Hello, Fireball Tim & your Camera-man! It was great to meet you today. This is Robin, the Art Car Volunteer you interviewed. Thought I would check out your site - very cool!!! I’m going to sign up for your newletter and I have added your web site to my Favorites…

So glad you came and saw one of the best car events EVER: The Art Car Parade!! I hope you enjoyed some true Houston hospitality and spirit. Like you said, the attitude is one of great fun and… can you believe the creativity of those cars? Isn’t amazing what ideas people come up with? One woman who painted her Miata said she spent at least 900 hours creating her masterpiece. And you know, it’s done for the love of it, cause while there are some awards given out after the parade, generally they sure don’t get any monetary reward.

And I’m looking forward to reading about the DeLorean factory. Thanks for telling us about that, too!!

Hey, continued success and if I can ever be of assistance the next time your are in town, just let me know…

    Take care,
    Robin

You probably met Mr. Tom Jones , curator at the art car museum, on Heights Blvd., in Houston. He was sadly killed as he sat on a curb in front of the museum at 2 am Sunday. A drunk driver lost control, hit a parked car pushing it on top of Tom. He died during surgery.

I, unfortunately did not meet Tom, but so sorry to hear that.

    Hey, Tim…

Heard on the news today that we (Houston) have 1 of 20 special Lamborghini Reventons available in the world. One was sold for over 1.6 million. Just sounded interesting. Do you know anything about that?

There is a memorial set up in front of the Art Car Museum where Mr. Tom Jones was killed. We are all pretty shocked and upset by it all. He was only 51. Hope you get to visit the museum next time you are around.

    Take care,
    Robin

Yea, the Reventon is AWESOME! Like a Bull, staring at you as if you were a yummy treat.

My sincere condolences regarding Tom. Sounds like everyone really liked him.
