This week. Curves.
A hot Plymouth Concept from Michael Leonhard, posters for Quenten Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds,” “GI Joe” and some weirdness from Peugeot. (They’re always weird, but cool.) Plus, a “Pimped” Batmobile I did for an upcoming book.
I get sent so much to consider for the “Weekly What’s Cool in Design” that I can hardly choose. A lot of great designers out there creating neat stuff. I really like poster design too, ’cause there’s a science to a successful poster. Done well, they can lead the viewer’ eye exactly where they want them to go. Just look at the GI Joe poster and keep your eye on the logo. Yea, right. Now go take a cold shower.

Cool cars that have come to me over the week include some serious beasts, but it’s obvious that design trends from aftermarket companies are solid and cool. (Not like you’ll be seeing the above anytime soon, but I’d rock it for sure…) The big thing now is powerplants. Gas is on the way out and alternative is on the way in. An upward spiral shift, raising the conciousness of society.
What will be available in the next 10-20 years? Fuel Cells, BioFules, Electric Hybrids and more. And design? Well, it just keeps getting better.
You are what you think… literally.

This is a really interesting car. So much there to explore, but well worth it. The only thing that would further its interest would be that it’s Zero Emmissions.

So, there I was, minding my own business when…WHAM! Sneeky Beemers came outta nowhere! Yea, Pacific Coast Highway is a glutton for stealth car activity. These Cloaked Z4’s headed down PCH yesterday like black mambas on a mission.
As I was snapping,.. and driving, I could see the drivers looking at me… watching. Saying “Who the heck is THAT guy?” If they only knew. Why, I’m the dood that’s gonna take a pict of YOUR ride and share it with the world!
…or at least just put it on my blog for YOU doods to check out and say,… Yea, I’ve seen Beemers before. So what.
And that’s the thing. When’s a car company gonna come out with something radical? Like this?

Spent the day yesterday filming a new show for Discovery Channel at CVS. “The World’s Most Expensive Rides.” Talking about cheapie cars like the Ferrari 250 GTO, Mercedes SLR, Ronn Scorpion and about 20 others. You know, all the cars I DON’T have in my garage…
Lots of fun, though. Great group of guys from KAOS Entertainment. They did an awesome job making me look snappy. ‘Course, the train going by every two minutes was fun, too.
It airs sometime this year. Cool.

Living here in Star Central Malibu, I get a chance to see some incredible things as well as incredibly creative people. I’m especially proud of this young girl who I’ve watched for a few years become not only a true inspired artist, but an equally inspired person.
My friend Dominique Wuth Sanders (The one on the left) had a great turnout for her new show at CANVAS. A neat store here that has great products and provides a way for artists to display in a creative and unique way. (The owners on the right) Dominique celebrated the opening, as well as her new marriage to cool Movie Composer Buck Sanders. Buck (circled) just completed KNOWING with Nicholas Cage. A great film, btw.
Dominique’s art was light and spirited with visions of levity in perfect execution. 2D and 3D works were displayed throughout the gallery, infused with color, passion and images of wandering scarabs (and not-so-creepy crawlies) just looking to be on their way. My favorite, “Buck Goes to Hollywood,” seemed to touch everyone in a airy sense of wonder, envisioning a bug fearlessly heading across a canvas of mint to encounter the unknown. A perfect color choice, evoking a calm and serene sense that really says what Buck brings to Hollywood. After meeting him, it’s a statement of truth.
Nice job, Dom. Your art is only surpassed by your humbleness and cheer for those that absorbed the work as being a feeling of beauty and grace.

Cool. The Infinity Essence. Why do I like this? Um. Duh, just look at it. Virtually EVERY line on the beast is unique and fresh. And fresh ideas are what we ALL like.
This week’s WINNERS. …The APTERA Hybrid, Lingenfelder Camaro, Guigaro Coolness and Aston One77. (This one should be Jimmy Bond’s new beast) It’s no joke now that hybrids, electric cars and alternative fuel vehicles are changing automotive culture. So, along with your Ferrari F430 that you have stuffed in your garage, it’s probably time for you to do some “greenwork.” Let’s be cool, and make the planet that way.
Oh, and book of the week? “Autobiography of a Yogi,” by Paramahansa Yogananda.

Cool kitchen, eh? This past week or so, my wife and I have decided to spend a wee bit of cash on cleaning up and making things cool. So, off to the DI IT Center we went to buy paint and stuff. Now, when you’re faced with choosing color for the walls, it’s a big decision ’cause if you pick wrong, it looks weird. But,… who cares. When I pick a color for a wall, I go for broke all the way and pick something that’s bold and cool.
Once it’s done, I’ll post pix, but here’s my point. Life’s short. PICK BOLD, GO BOLD. And make your home as rockin’ cool as possible. Now, 2 rooms cost us about 2oo bucks. Not much for a facelift. Just a bit of elbow grease. And don’t forget to throw away all the crap that’s laying around collecting dust. Get rid of it and be clean. Also, incorporate as many green products as you can, like Aquasana. Best investment I ever made.
Why look at stains, ugly color, smudges and such when you can spend a weekend making your kitchen absolutely awesome. Paint it APPLE GREEN or AZURE BLUE or GOLDENROD. Then enjoy the feelings it give you.
So there. Oh, and this is not my kitchen. Mine’s much cooler now.

Not like any Sunbeam Tiger I ever saw. Sweet. I peruse until I find things that stop and inspire me. So, here’s a couple. Funky cool.
Oh, and the movie of the week? “KNOWING,” with Nicolas Cage. Do it.
