Spent the day traversing the Paramount lot, seeing friends and networking. Lots of new projects in the works. If you’ve never been on a lot, the energy is high and there’s always cool things going on.
Visited my buddy, Joey Aroesti (A Transportation Coordinator) and a few others. Joey’s working on the TV Show “Everybody Hates Chris.” He loves cars, like all of us, but he makes sure that the show gets all the right cars in all the right places for filming. We’ll have him on The Hollywood Car Show in a few weeks,… ’cause he’s cool.
Here’s some cool cars from the event this weekend in Calabasas. The Village Coffee Roaster Show. About 800 cars! For those of you who come to the shows, stop me so I can get a shot of your car!! If it’s got wheels, …I dig it. Check out these cool rides, especially the old school Ford with my Pop, Fireball Tony.
Spent the better part of this morning at the newly formed TRANSPORTATION DESIGN and TECHNICAL INSTITUTE. A small up-and-coming design school for Inner City Kids in Culver City run by my friends John and DJ. Between the ages of 14-17. I go in every now and then to look over the cool stuff that’s coming out and try to get them to think outside of the normal scope of design. They also had the help from some of top designers and Honda and VW.
But this weekend was the finals… And these were NOT the kids I saw the last time I was there! These kids knocked my socks off!! And they were designing cool cars!
There were a lot of unique concepts, strong modern day interpretations and excellent execution. Especially the pink muscle car. (Nice!) Small package, big power… just how I like it.
I was really impressed with all of them. If you’re interested in getting your kids involved, contact John Mitsumi @ 310 396 8601.
…That is, before I head to San Francisco for my seminar at CLUB SPORTIVA. Really looking forward to this for a lot of reasons, but primarily because I get to meet some great car enthusiasts. The LIVE Dissection will be on the FERRARI F430 and possibly one other, but we’re going to have a great time. And,… it’s free.
Major beach day today, and since I didn’t go, I’m lame. But I always like Fridays because they remind me of what I accomplished for the week. And this weekend is about cars. Tomorrow I get to design more cool stuff and Sunday I’ll head to Calabasas for the Village Coffee Roaster Show. Hope to see some of you there!
I’ve been reading a lot, as I try to do, and I’ve been fortunate to have grabbed a really good author. I highly recommend Robert Collier’s “THE SECRET OF THE AGES.” Excellent. Plunk down, absorb it and let me know what you think. The kind of book you’ll read for the rest of your life.
This coming week will bring a couple of new products from FIREBALLED, so again, let me know what you guys think.
Check out CARTATTS and MILLUSIONS. Fun stuff for your ride and tons more coming…
Be safe!
- Ah, Lotus...
Headed to Ventura with my buddy Alan to see some sick old cars. Hmm,,, that didn’t sound right. Not sick like blowing chunks sick, but SICK! These beasts were the creme del la creme.
As I write this, I ponder a 200 car garage. Root Beer in my drinking fountain, gumball machine with 5″ round gumballs and a 2000″ Plasma. Ah, visualization is a good thing. Check out these beasts.
Who wantsa Golf, Fireball style? Bring it…
I’m considering doing design DISSECTIONS here. If I get enough positive feedback, I’ll go all hog wild…
Ferraris, Yugos, MINIS… whatever suits the bill. If it’s cool, it needs to be dissected.
Good design. Well, that’s a personal thing, right? Sorta. But I look at it like this…
IT’S COOL AND I LIKE IT, DUH!!! So, …if that’s the way I feel and the car looks bitchin’ for all the reasons a car SHOULD look bitchin,’ then it’s a done deal. Maybe Fridays will be DISSECTION DAY? What do you guys think?
Oh, and this little beast here is an HPI RACING MINI. If I could fit in it, I’d rock it. All time Classic Design. SEE YOU ALL AT MINI MEET WEST this Saturday!! Bring your cameras ’cause I wanna get photos with EVERYONE!!
WOO HOO!!!!
A couple of weekends ago, I got a call from my buddy Chuck sayin,’ “Hey Fireball! Get yer butt over to FLAMES and see some the coolest rods in LA!” So, off I went. And since I hit over a hundred shows a year, I expected to see way cool stuff. And it didn’t disappoint.
But that got me thinking again. Why do I love cars so much? Why do ALL of us love cars?
Honestly? … Most cars are designed by men. Most men appreciate the beauty of the female form. In ALL it’s forms. And car designs… are inspired by women mostly. Shapes and curves, concave and convex surfaces. Textures. There are many other influences, but the designer of the ‘68 Split Window Vette (Harry Bradley) said this point blank… “I designed the Vette after seeing a woman dance and bend backwards on the ground as one of her moves. The most beautiful thing I had ever seen. THAT inspired me.”
This is not sleazy. Nor strange in any way. God has created a situation that allows beauty to inspire us all. From form in nature to the thing that attracts all men most. The human body. Look closely and you’ll see for your self.
Check out some of the rides above with new eyes. Let it guide your soul on a journey of inspiration. And let that journey help you to appreciate design.
An congratulations to Chuck for winning BEST OF SHOW with his “Rodriguez!”
Time for Chocolate…
Oooo, now THIS is going to be fun!
The Huntington Beach Concours was outta control this weekend. Had a great time with buddy, George Barris, cool fans like Jimmy and his rockin’ green Buttkicker Mini, the boys from Huntington Beach Hogs and Choppers, Dave Kunz from ABC, Mothers, Corvette Limos, TF Designs, OffRoad Rolls Royces, cool PhotoDood Frank Filipponio, Pirates and their Maytees, old friends, new friends, and KIDS!!! Everybody dug our Little Guy Trailer! Best dang trailer on the market!!
Yea, typical stuff. Just another day for the Fireball.
Congratulations to the WINNERS and big thanks to the Bobs!!! Bob Shaw and Bob Amaral of MOALA. …man I’m wiped…
