Playin’ with a GEM…

This will be fun. What’s better than a “Green Vehicle?” A Fireballed Green Vehicle. So, with this as our template, we’ll be doing some really cool modded green cars this coming year at Cinema Vehicles. More photos at AutoblogGreen HERE.

Distributed by Chrysler, but built by GEM in Fargo! 30 mile charge. 25 mph. 2/4/6 seaters. 4-6 charge time. Doors, no doors.  Street Legal up to 35mph zones. They start at $8K and go up to $16K, but the customization will be the fun part. Unique to the owner. Sweet.

LA Auto Show in BLACKS…

Black is associated with power, elegance, formality and mystery.

Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). It denotes strength and authority and is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious color (black tie, black Mercedes).

Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth, but a black background diminishes readability. A black suit or dress can make you look thinner. When designing for a gallery of art or photography, you can use a black or gray background to make the other colors stand out. Black contrasts well with bright colors. Combined with red or orange – other very powerful colors – black gives a very aggressive color scheme. Black with White suggests you’ve been pulled over. Bummer…

LA Auto Show in SILVERS…

As there are millions of colors on the color wheel, Silver represents not only tone, but depth.

Silver is the color of elegance. Although many think gold has this label, silver really embodies a depth and truth beyond gold. It does not transcend into the mode of ego as does gold, but it creates a sense of cool, calm and collective color. Really a tone of black and white (Cool Gray), Silver is used on virtually every vehicle to represent quality and elegance.

Silver in products can mean the same. Form is easiest read by being designed in silver. Most concept cars and basic models come in Silver. One of the oldest colors since cars were built.

Silver is also a color of strength, as in steel, iron and all metals. A binding color. White gold is actually more popular than regualr gold due to it’s “binding” theory of relationship. And,… it looks cool on my Titanium Imac, duh.

LA Auto Show in WHITES…

White is associated with light, goodness, innocence and purity. None of which embody high horsepower, but it is considered to be the color of perfection. Although technically, white is “the absence of color.”

White also means safety and cleanliness. As opposed to black, white usually has a positive connotation. It also represents a successful beginning.

In advertising, white is associated with coolness and cleanliness because it’s the color of snow. You can use white to suggest simplicity in high-tech products. It’s an appropriate color for charitable organizations; angels are usually imagined wearing white clothes. (Although probably with red underwear!)  White is associated with hospitals, doctors, and sterility, so you can use white to suggest safety when promoting medical products. White is often associated with low weight, low-fat food, and dairy products. You know, like the inside of a twinkie.

Been one of those weeks…

 img_5880.JPGimg_5881.JPGimg_5856.JPG

Yea, we all have ‘em, eh? Like, no matter how hard you try, it just keeps getting more and more challenging.

My Mom was diagnosed with Cancer last week. Terminal, they said Monday. Then, by Friday after getting more detail, they said that it was treatable and she wouldn’t die. That was a hellava rollercoaster for everyone.

So began a chain that ended Friday of very unusual events concerning everything from my son moving away to San Francisco with a great job to unusual Tax stuff. But somewhere in all that muck, I discovered a satisfying treat…

At the CITY BAKERY in Brentwood I found those unbelievable  Hot Chocolate on the planet. Worth a trip from New York, this one. 26th Street and San Vicente. It went down like a warm blanket of chocolatey goodness. Ah, the simple things.

What else….

Oh, two shows confirmed coming up. The HUNTINGTON BEACH CONCOURS d’ ELEGANCE and THE RCX SHOW. Check the sites for info. I’ll be there, havin’ fun. Come say hi… (I may have some treats)

Reading Charles Haanel’s MASTER KEY SYSTEM. The book rumored to have launched Bill Gates. I can see why. Get it from Kallisti Publishing. It will be the most profound read you’ve ever done.

Oh, and a wee excitement in Malibu. Labor Day accident. No one seriously hurt, but a motorcyclist down for the count. He couldn’t win against an Infinity, but a MINI showed up to help as usual.

Oh, shot four new episodes of AUTO DISSECTION. Check ‘em out here. They should be airing next week. 3 Episodes up now, but the four new ones will include the Dodge Challenger and the Audi R8.

Yea, it was a busy week, but like all things everything turns out well.

Southern California BLUES…

 santamonica.jpg

Why would anyone want to live in a place like this…

Southern California, if you’ve never been here, is really a tough place to hang. I mean, blue sky and 75 degrees in February. Ok, as if that doesn’t raise the mad jealous factor to 10, nothing will. But here’s the point…

Choice. …as in we all have them daily. It may seem that when the world is against us, we don’t. But we do.

It may seem impossible when we look at a mountain of debt and the how’s seem unsurmountable, we don’t. But we do.

A wise man once said, “Just take the first step, you don’t have to climb the whole staircase.” That man was Martin Luther King.

Live where you WANT to live, not where you HAVE to live. And you’ll find a way…

Sad day at WARNER BROS…

…Out the door at 9:30am today to head across town to Warner Bros Studios. Yes, the Batman Lot. Although, there was no sign of Batman today. Nor Speed Racer, nor a sequel to BLADE RUNNER. (But they were prepping TERMINATOR 4 SALVATION, but I can’t show you that..) Oh, and even the General Lees are off duty…

Point is, WB was a ghost town. With the writer’s strike on a full court press, the studio was void of virtually all activities. Bummer. Haven’t seen this in a lot of years. Way bummer because my brother, Ethan, and his wife Dee are writers. Good writers. No,… great writers. But, they’ve got to do what they’ve got to do and I support them. Even though I had to go onto the lot. My buddy, Ron Stansberry is head of Construction Services and I paid him a visit. Supposed to be a big layoff tomorrow. Grrr….

Then I was off to CINEMA VEHICLE SERVICES to check on the progress of this cool machine. Check out the before and after. These guys are good….

Then it off to my tax guy. But I don’t need to get into that… Talk about a bummer…;-) But, all in all, just another day in the life of dorkness. But, I do have a wee surprise coming tomorrow. Okay, a BIG surprise….

Mini Maniacs take over SANTA ANITA…

I do a lot of events. I mean, close to 70 a year. But this one I always look forward to because THESE are my homies. Southern California MINI Maniacs.

Standing at a podium and acting stupid is an art. And since I’m the King of Stupid, they keep calling me back to MC a group of 200 crazed MINI enthusiasts. And boy, do we have fun.  It all takes place at the SANTA ANITA RACETRACK in …where else.. Santa Anita, CA. Great food, great raffle prizes and bettin’ on horses. And since I bet last year and won $5, I thought I’d just revel in the fact that I’m still a winner and just do the MC thing. Even my Dad, Fireball Pops, was there.

Lots of people won cool swag, but some won Canon Cameras and Garmin GPS doodads.

So, if you have a MINI, want a MINI, dream of having a MINI, or just have nothing to do, …then, get into a club. A chance to be with people and have fun.

Special thanks to all the MINI Dealers that participated, President Lex and George Marsh for the cool pix.
