This past month in July, my lil’ niece Alexa has had a whale of a time. She landed the cover of LA PARENT Magazine, had a huge trampoline birthday party and then there’s this… I’ve always felt that giving experiences are better than giving things. And experience adds to the value of life and makes up a person. So we took Alexa and her Pop paddleboarding for the first time at Mother’s Beach n Marina Del Rey. A great lil’ beach for toddlers.
We paddled near the boats, saw a Seal doin’ it’s thing and watched Kathie try her best to PaddleYoga. You can see the result. 😉
Next time a birthday rolls around, forget the gifts and give the fun. It lasts a lifetime for everyone.

Pretty excited about my niece ALEXA getting the cover of this month’s LA PARENT. I had nothing to do with this one as a local photographer thought that Alexa might make a good cover and just submitted it. There were over 3000 submissions into what was called SHOOTING STARS 2014 and lil’ Alexa killed it. The mag is on stands now, so pick up a copy or hit their site here.

A day or two ago, I grabbed the fam and we headed up to the mountains for a zoom in this week’s 2014 Caddy CTS. Although there was no snow and it was a 70 degree January day, we had an absolute blast. Yes, winter in Cali is a challenge…
First off, lunch was at the famous LA CASITA restaurant where they sell one of the best salsas I’ve ever had. A spicy creamy jalapeno mix that kicks just about anything, Mexican to Burgers. Get some if you like salsas and give a big wave to Roberto. They were awesome and tell ’em the Fireball sent ya….
A short skirt into town revealed a host of cool shops too, from gifts to chocolatey goodness.
It’s easy to forget what a day like this can bring. We get caught up in our day-to-day and taking time off with the family to go somewhere unique is so important. Anywhere. In fact, it’s better if you DO go somewhere you’ve never been as it’s more of an adventure of discovery. We call them Hat-Trick-Trips. 3 places in one day, although in the case of Idyllwild, it was lunch, chocolate and a playground.

My niece Alexa is keeping the tradition in our family by now taking on Martial Arts. She’s only 4 and that’s pretty much when I started. (See below) Not only is she tackling a confidence builder, she actually just won her first tournament as a white belt! Not bad for a Fireball Squirt!
