2018 ASTON MARTIN DB11 LIGHTNING SILVER – FIREBALL MALIBU VLOG 744

2018 ASTON MARTIN DB11 LIGHTNING SILVER – FIREBALL MALIBU VLOG 744 – Fireball takes a spin with buddy Lou Kahuna in a 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Lightning Silver. Whoa.

The Aston Martin DB11 is a British grand tourer coupe produced by Aston Martin since 2016.

It debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016 as a replacement to the DB9. It is the first model launched in Aston Martin’s ‘second century’ plan and the first all-new car launched since the company’s tie-up with Daimler AG.

The DB11 was designed by Marek Reichman, Aston’s chief creative officer and head of design.

It continues the tradition of design focused on 1:3 proportions and includes a number of new and unique design features, including new roof strakes that separate the body from the roof, available in black or body colour and the “Aeroblade” intakes in the front strakes.

These evolve the side strakes from purely visual to functional and channel turbulent air down the side of the car and into intake ducts by the C pillars and forced out at the rear vertically as a ‘virtual’ spoiler, providing down-force.

The bonnet is a ‘clam-shell’ design from the only supplier Aston could find to supply a large, single piece of aluminium.

The DB11 features an all-new riveted and adhesive-bonded aluminium platform that shifts the emphasis from extrusions to stampings to create more cockpit space.

The DB11 V12 is powered by an all-new 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, making it the first turbocharged series-production Aston Martin.

The engine produces 600 bhp and 516 lb⋅ft. The car is equipped with a rear-mounted 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The DB11 accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and reaches 200 mph.

The initial V12 model was joined by a V8 version in the summer of 2017. Powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine developed with Mercedes-AMG, it results in a 115kg weight reduction.

The V8 produces 503 bhp and 498 lb⋅ft, resulting in a top speed of 187 mph and accelerates to 62 mph in 4 seconds.

During the DB11 coupe premiere, over 1,400 DB11 vehicles were ordered.

Gorgeous Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish revealed…

Is this the car being used in the new James Bond film SKYFALL? Well, I can’t say. Or… can I?

One thing’s for sure, this new Aston is stunning and would turn a spy into anyone. ‘Course, if I was the spy, I’d spend most of my time in the car and would never really get my spy-ness done. I’d be too busy screaming and yelling for joy. But… that’s why I’m not a spy.

…Or… am I? PSYCH!!!

Jimmy Bond’s DB5 appears on set of SKYFALL

Ahh, the DB5. Classic JimmyB style. Was there ever a better ride for the man with a license to kill? Maybe… I liked the Citroen 2CV also. That was a badass chase, too. But alas, the new film SKYFALL has chosen the Aston once again.

Now, if we were to put the Citroen up against the DB5, it would be no contest. The lil’ Citroen would kick arse like no other, leaving the whimpering DB5 in it’s wake of dust, banana leaves and chrome teeth. And, should production ever give me these two cars to review, I’d prove it. Everything… except maybe the chrome teeth. Like, that would be really hard to get. Just sayin.’

I mean… do you remember how the 2CV rolled down that hill? That was AWESOME!

Anyway… here’s the shot of the slowpoke DB5 on set. Along with the crew. ...Parked, I might add. 😉
