2014 KIA OPTIMA Roadtrip to Arrowhead… #kiaoptima #arrowhead #bigbear

Just got back from a couple days in Arrowhead & Big Bear, roadtrippin’ the 2014 KIA OPTIMA Turbo. Smoooth and very easy car to drive. Comfortable on the long haul and very non-descript, so we slipped through traffic and by cops with ease. (Like we weren’t even there.) Gas mileage was pretty awesome at about 35 average.

If you’ve never been to Arrowhead or Big Bear (Snowboarding), then Snow Summit is a hop-skip… when there’s snow, which there wasn’t. DOH! But we had fun just walkin’ around and enjoying the brisk air. The dogs were flippin’ the wild weenie at all the things around to sniff. As a car geek, Big Bear is a very car town… but this past weekend it was like a ghost town. I mean zilch! So again, the most we did was walk, eat and sit in front of the fire in our cabin at Big Frontier. Oof, that was gooood…

BIG BEAR The Gallery of Cold…

Yup, back from the mountains with a big thumbs up for the Chevy Tahoe. A basic fun experience car. Fully loaded with all our gear and two dogs, we set out to see if this beast had what it takes to run the gambit, and sure enough it was with flying colors. Did some fun stuff with the GoPro. Official Review coming, but otherwise a great trip had fun by all.

Now it’s time to get down to business. For Kathie, she’s building a huge KSwiss Shoe for a commercial. Wait ’til you see this thing. Crazy. For me? Insanity…

Snowboarder’s DREAM…

The only time you really get bushed snowboarding is when the mountain is empty. And today, even being Saturday, there was like 100 people on the slopes. And that makes you beat because you go up and down 20 times. But it’s the kind of beat that works for me… Means we did it up sweet. More shots tomorrow, but we just got back from Night Boarding and I’m gonna go do a face plant…

Nighty night, doods and doodettes.

Off to BIG BEAR for some Tahoe Action…

So, does the new Chevy Tahoe measure up to the Fireball standard? Is it cool in all the right places? Well, in order to get to the bottom of it, I’m off to BIG BEAR with my snowboards to find out. And I have 5 tagalongs to maximize and see if this FlexFuel Beast can fit the bill, fully loaded. And… I’ve got a brand new GoPro Camera to fit this Silver Beast in the frame… so there, take that!

Ride Along Episode 11 will be coming soon, but for now, check out SEMA Episode 8 for some car coolness…ness.

BIG BEAR Car Show…

Another thing we did while in BIG BEAR was see some of the cool cars that we’re heading to the show. Case in point, this slick Chevy 3100 with 2 cycles in the back. One from 1947 and 1948. This guy, Scott, spent a lot of time to make the motor sparkle.

Cool Cars, Ghosts and Coffee in BIG BEAR…

Ok, not REAL ghosts, but like… kinda ghost-like. Only, nothing like that either…

Just got back from some r&r in Big Bear. Up in the San Bernadino Mountains. It was quiet. Seriously quiet. And although it was quiet, there were cool cars to be found. Some weird ones, too. But… where were the people, yo?

Normally, Big Bear is sportin’ serious population at the local coffee hang outs. But this week? I got Joes 2 Go in 20 seconds flat! We perused the town, I did a run at 5:30am (That was creepy quiet.. and thank God, cause I had serious bed-head!), and we went swimmin’ dog paddlin’-style. It was cool, only hot. 78 degrees at 7000 feet is hot.

Everyone needs r&r. So, find a place and get to it. Be with nature and stop to smell the flowers. Plenty of time to get back to the grind. And bring yer pooches…
