Recently found this spot online and remembered our shoot in Vancouver for NINTENDO. No one in history had ever jumped out of a plane wearing a Mascot outfit. The only way to test it was to JUMP. So… we did. Here’s the result…

Fireball gets NINTENDO’D for Nintendo…

Some of you may know that Kathie gets me into weird situations with her costumes sometimes. And although I haven’t been able to mention this until I got a thumbs up from Nintendo, I can now.

Here’s some shots from a shoot in Chicago a few months back. Yes, I am a Nintendo Character for MARIO SPORTS MIX as well as being a Fireball. (I happen to be Super Mario as well, but don’t tell anyone.) Check out some of the funny commercials they’ve done with these guys. They’ve been airing on TV as well as online.

Secret’s out. Sorry about that, Chief.

Chicago Day 5… Hasta La Vista…

So, it is with great sorrow… Oh, c’mon, I’m not gettin’ all teary eyed over leavin’ Chicago ’cause I’m headin’ back to my pimpin’ pad in LA. BUT, we did have an awesome time here in the Windy…          um, Snowy City. (I’m actually in LA right now, but shhhh…)

Above? Super Cool Funky Dood, Tom Zahorsky of Johnny Lightning. We had lunch at the China Grill and talked for three frikkin’ hours! And what did we talk about? Well, that’s seriously TOP SECRET, but I can say that Lightning and the Fireball for 2011 is gonna be way outta control… And considering what TomZ went through to get into Snowy Chicago, he’s pretty dang committed now. (He’s got 300 cars in his driveway and had to dig out just the right one for our meeting. Veyron was it, Tom?)

And of course, our shoot with Nintendo is complete. Spots begin to air in February. Look for it, ’cause they’re hysterical. It’s called “Super Mario Sports Mix.” And again, we found the best coffee joint in all Chicago, Cafe Descartes. And thanks to coffee master, Aaron, we were greeted every morning with a perfect hot joe. Make sure you visit him and say “hey” for me. He might just spike your drink with something chocolatey…

We also hit the best Vegetarian place, The Chicago Diner on Halstead and had some Hershey Love. Awesome.

Chicago being a beautiful city, some parting shots that are just super cool…

Chicago Day 4… The Shoot for Nintendo…

Now, although I can’t show you the characters of this game, it’s because Nintendo wants you guys to be surprised. (Although if you look really close, you might see one…) And as usual, I’m one of the doods in costume. But the set and team was awesome. We shot nearly 12 hours and created three spots, plus a ton of web content that all comes this February. You’re gonna see a lot of these new guys and they’re funny! And no, these are not characters you’ve seen before…

And what happened the moment we stepped off set and outside? SNOW! It blanketed the streets in a brilliant cool white. Wasn’t really cold, but absolutely gorgeous. Those who live here may not think so, but when you grow up in SoCal and never get white Christmas,’ then this is seriously cool.

Tomorrow? Lunch with TomZ from Johnny Lightning…

Chicago… Day 3 Nintendo…

Tomorrow’s the day we shoot. (Shooting with RED Cameras) But we headed over to the set to talk with the Director, Brian Fox. Very cool guy and a surfer, too. So, that makes him cool2. Or, cool squared. Whatever… Some Directors you deal with are difficult, but Brian’s got this thing wired. And the set looks awesome.

But afterward, we headed to see Kathie’s Mom. She’s in the Hospital for like… a number of reasons. But all she wanted was an escape vehicle. So, Kathie and I sauntered over to her apartment …and stole her Jazzy. Then raced across the snow and brought it to her room. But we got caught in the elevator! Then, after talking our way out of it, be snaked down the hall to her room. And what’s a Jazzy? Snap some flames on this puppy and hit the drags! That beast tops out at like… 1/4 mph!! Kinda scary actually…

We hit Cafe Descartes on the loop and spent the day preppin’ for tomorrow’s shoot. Rock n’ Roll, baby…

Chicago… Day 2

So much to see and do in this city, but just not enough time. Although I can’t show shots right now of the Nintendo Set due to security, I’ll have some Monday. But Chicago’s skyline and chilly weather is impressive. Kathie and I, for the few hours we were’nt on set prepping and wearing funny clothes, headed again to the WaterTower for a bite at FoodLife’s Stir Fry and then to famous Giordanos Italian for a Deep Dish Chicago Pie. And now… I’m stuffed.

Christmastime in this town is awesome, although the people are out in full force and serious crowds everywhere. The bitter cold doesn’t stop them from spendin’ their dough. And gettin’ around is totally easy with a cool bus system. Bus:$2.25, Taxi:$10 bucks.  So, why not take the bus and have an extra Root Beer at dinner?

Snow Storm’s a comin…’

Chicago DAY 1… Nintendo

Up at 3:AM. In town car at 3:30AM. At Airport at 4:30AM. Starbucks at 5AM. Spill Starbucks at 5:03AM. In Bathroom with big stain on my pants at 5:512AM.

On Set at 1PM for a fitting. Lookin’ snazzy. Then… sprinted outta there and TOOK ON THE TOWN, BABY! Check the pix… cause Chicago is the place to be…

Nintendo Shoot comin’ up…

Kathie and I are about to leave for Chicago on this Nintendo shoot. Everything looks good and the costumes are coming along. The only bummer is that we leave Friday at 6am. As in, wheels up at 6. That means… up at 3am to head to the airport. Sheesh. But that puts us in Chicagee at noon, just in time for lunchahol. Sweet!

And to celebrate us having to get up so early, here’s a Mario Baseball spot we did a while ago. Yes, I’m Super Mario… but also the big yellow guy… Check out the other Nintendo shoots we’ve done in the links below right. KCL Episodes. There’s plenty more, but we add them every now and then…
