CAITLYN JENNER AT RODEO DRIVE CONCOURS! – FIREBALL MALIBU VLOG 631 – Fireball and Kathie head with the team to The Rodeo Drive Concours, have a convo with Caitlyn Jenner about her new Austin Healey Bug Eye Sprite!

About CAITLYN from WIKI… CaitlynJenner (born October 28, 1949), formerly known as #BruceJenner, is an American television personality and retired Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete. Jenner was a college football player for the Graceland Yellowjackets before incurring a knee injury that required surgery.

Coach L. D. Weldon, who had coached Olympic decathlete Jack Parker, convinced Jenner to try the decathlon. After intense training, Jenner won the 1976 Olympics decathlon event at the Montreal Olympic Games, gaining fame as “an all-American hero”.

Jenner set a third successive world record while winning the Olympics. The winner of the Olympic decathlon is traditionally given the unofficial title of “world’s greatest athlete”.

With that stature, Jenner subsequently established a career in television, film, writing, auto racing, business and as a Playgirl cover model.

About Rodeo Drive from WIKI… Rodeo Drive /rˈd./ is a two-mile-long street, primarily in Beverly Hills, California, with its southern segment in the City of Los Angeles. Its southern terminus is at Beverwil Drive, and its northern terminus is at its intersection with Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills.

The name is most commonly used metonymically to refer to the three-block stretch of the street north of Wilshire Boulevard and south of Little Santa Monica Boulevard, which is known for its luxury goods stores.

The larger business district surrounding Rodeo, known as the “Golden Triangle,” which extends from Wilshire Boulevard to Santa Monica Boulevard, is both a shopping district and a tourist attraction.

In 1906, Burton E. Green (1868-1965) and other investors purchased the property that would become Beverly Hills, formerly named Rancho Rodeo de las Aguas, with plans for a mixed-use subdivision with a branch of the Los Angeles and Pacific Railway running North on Rodeo Drive before turning west at Sunset Boulevard.

They platted the street that very year, in 1906. By 1907, 75×160 foot parcels on Rodeo were selling for $1,100 each. It became a bridle path in 1912, when the Beverly Hills Hotel was built on a former lima bean field.

By November 1925, similar lots were selling for between $15,000 and $30,000, almost double what they’d been selling for in September.

The central part of Rodeo eventually became a business street with hardware stores, gas stations, beauty shops, and bookstores. In 1958, real estate developer Marvin Kratter bought 48,000 square feet of land at the corner of Rodeo and Wilshire Boulevard from the city of Beverly Hills.

The acreage is across the street from the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and Kratter paid something over $2 million for it.

Father’s Day means THE RODEO DRIVE CONCOURS d’ cool…

Yes, it’s Pop’s Day this Sunday and that can only mean one thing. Ima off to Beverly Hills to see some crazy exotic cars, have lunch, see some exotic cars, have ice cream, see MORE exotic cars and then… go to the car show. 😉 Well, it is Father’s Day…

Each year, the RODEO DRIVE Concours d’ Elegance goes off for Pops of SoCal. And we Pops love cars, so it makes sense. But seriously, there are some amazing cars there that you will never see anywhere else. And thanks to the boys at Porsche, we’ll be taking a monster Turbo S. If you’re in SoCal, ask your squeeze to bring you. Then I’ll buy you an ice cream if you’re good. Maybe.

The 2011 Rodeo Drive Concours’

This year’s marquis was FIAT. And so… there were tons. But, as always, some very serious Italian metal was present including all these classic Ferraris and the new FF. Being on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills felt a little like Via Del Corso in Italy after the Lavazza coffee started getting poured. Shwing!

Probably a billion dollars in this show, especially with Bijan’s Bugatti present. And since he just passed away in the store it was parked in front of, there was a lot of people in discussion. He loved cars, and that was cool. Enjoy the metalfest…

Sleepy SATURDAY…

sleepysaturday

I guess I got up this morning,… only to go back to sleep again later.

Recharge. A full week of “on the go” requires a day of recharging. Case in point, here’s my pooches “recharging” and using me as a bed. I’m kinda lumpy, so not really sure what’s so great about this…. BUT, they seemed to be happy.

Took a hike, went for a stroll on the beach, chilled and read. Good book by Prentice Mulford. Check him out.

TOMORROW! It’s Father’s Day and it’ll be rockin!!! Heading to the RODEO DRIVE CONCOURSE d’ ELEGANCE! Big buck rides and tons of pops walkin’ with thier kids and wives. Photos afterwards.

Have a great Father’s Day to everyone!
