REVIEW: SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY will re-ignite your passion for the Galaxy…

Had the chance, thanks to Disney, to get an exclusive screening of SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY the other night at the Arclight in Hollywood. Wes (The Daily Driver Project) and I got to the show about 7pm (Vlog of that coming this week!).

And although I’ve seem every Star Wars movie since the beginning, I wasn’t expecting this…

Do you remember the feeling you got when you first saw the original STAR WARS? The multiple moments during the film when your jaw dropped, you drooled in your seat or you cheered? And the only thing you hoped for was that the sequel (The Empire Strike Back) would be just as good?

Then… it actually was? Thanks to Lucas, Kirshner and Kasdan.

Well, I’m officially here to tell you that SOLO, despite all the other Star Wars films falling slightly or severely short of that feeling, makes good on it’s promise.

A spectacularly directed film, thanks to RON HOWARD, Solo delivers on virtually every way that a film can. It’s funny, poignant, exciting, unique and swallows you whole for 2-1/2 hours. And the script from Jonathan and Lawrence Kasdan is flawless.

You’ll feel LOST, yet WONDROUS. You’ll feel EXCITED, yet MIND-BLOWN’D. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a movie that was this immersive, this fun and with characters that made me want to head straight to Target for Toys again. Seriously.

The moment this film ends… all you want to do is see it again. And again. It’s layered and dirty with fantastic and fun performances by virtually every character. The worlds are filthy and unique, the ships are fantastical, beautiful and fast. It’s AMAZING.

But most of all, HAN SOLO has evolved into a complex, deep and swaggarous character. ALDEN EHRENREICH nails the subtle innuendos brought forth by Harrison Ford, yet pulls and twists it into his own with broad and funny flavors.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film and want to see it several times to capture all it’s subtle corners. A complex Galaxy to discover. And… it’s the first FAST & FURIOUS in SPACE.

Ron Howard’s SOLO is going to make it very tough for other directors to come up to. And with OBI-WAN and many other films coming… it better be.

Congratulations to Kathleen Kennedy for making the call to Howard. Best call she’s ever made.

2018 HYUNDAI ELANTRA ECO ACTION REVIEW! – FIREBALL MALIBU VLOG

2018 HYUNDAI ELANTRA ECO ACTION REVIEW! – FIREBALL MALIBU VLOG – For the week, Fireball gets the 2018 Hyundai Elantra Eco and starts driving… and driving… and driving. Then goes and sees Star Wars again.

2018 HYUNDAI ELANTRA ECO ACTION REVIEW! – FIREBALL MALIBU VLOGThe Hyundai Elantra (Korean: 현대 엘란트라), or Hyundai Avante (현대 아반떼) in South Korea, is a compact car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1990.

It is now in its sixth generation.

The Elantra was initially marketed as the Lantra in Australia and some European markets.

In Australia, this was due to the similarly named Mitsubishi Magna Elante model.

This gave rise to disagreement with other motor manufacturers, and the name was standardized as “Elantra” worldwide in 2001 (except in Korea). Roughly halfway through the 2017 model year, Hyundai released a Sport model for the North American market.

The Sport slots between the Eco and Limited models and is differentiated externally by different headlights and taillights, ground effects, a more aggressive front and rear bumper and dual chrome-tipped exhaust outlets.

Under the hood, the Sport features a Turbocharged 1.6-liter direct-injected four cylinder producing 201 hp (150 kW) and 195 lb⋅ft (264 N⋅m) of torque.

Transmission options include a 7-speed dual clutch automatic with manual shift mode or a traditional 6-speed manual.

Additional modifications for the sport include a flat-bottomed steering wheel, red stitching on the seats, shift boot and steering wheel, larger front brakes, 18″ alloy wheels, an independent multi-link rear suspension, a thicker front stabilizer bar and a steering ratio tuned for a quicker, sportier feel.

2018 model year: A power sunroof and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane change assist are standard.

Don’t read if you don’t wanna know…

Imagine the standard Star Wars crawl, and when it ends the camera pans up to the stars. But instead of a spaceship zooming into frame we see… a hand! A severed hand, tumbling through space. A severed hand gripping a light saber.

That hand falls onto a desert planet, where it is discovered by characters who will be our heroes. One is Daisy Ridley. The other is John Boyega, who is playing someone trying to change his path in life (again, I’m keeping it vague here). They recognize the light saber as a Jedi relic and decide to return it to the proper people.

Their quest takes them off world, and they meet up with Han Solo and Chewbacca, who aren’t flying around in the Millenium Falcon anymore but are piloting… well, that could be a spoiler. I’ll leave it. Anyway, Han and Chewie recognize the light saber as Luke’s, and they say they haven’t seen their friend in thirty years, since the events of Return of the Jedi.

So begins a quest to find the missing Jedi Master. Meanwhile, on an ice planet, nefarious forces are building a super weapon, one capable of destroying not planets but entire solar systems…
