EXCLUSIVE! “FASTER” shows off it’s Muscle with a Malibu SS
Car Movies are in.…way in. And up next this Wednesday is a beast of a flick from CBS Films called “FASTER.” You should already know about this movie by now because CBS has been doing a bang up job on promoting the film, plastering the faces of Dwayne Johnson and his metal of choice, a black on black Chevy Malibu SS all over town. We car guys know who the “real” star is, but Dwayne does a pretty badass job at kickin’ some major rear end in this one. And just as it’s difficult to place a star in the right type of movie, CBS’s production team had a tough job at picking a very serious road weapon to enhance Dwayne’s character. But they did…
Below are exclusive “Behind the Scenes” shots from our shop Cinema Vehicle Services where the cars were built. Now, although CVS fabricated the skin and suspension of these beasts, the real guts of the cars were put together by expert Mechanic and Fabricator Danny Sanchez. Danny slapped these cars into gear with some serious power and serious nitrous.
But why the SS? What is it about the design of this classic car that says “I’m just gonna plain knock you out?” I mean, if someone asked me if Dwayne Johnson were a car, what would he be… I’d do what CBS Films did …and landlock the Malibu. Its raw aggressiveness is why Hollywood grabs this “go to” car for many of it’s films and why they came to CVS to build them. But despite its overuse, it never seems to be …over used. It’s just hardcore brutal… and in a semi black skin, a straight reverse punch.
And does this car get seriously abused…
Check out the bullet holes, crush zones, impact blunt forced traumas. And in all that, wait until you see what Dwayne does to the other guys. Yes, guys. Not one dude, but a whole mess of gun totin’ thunder monkeys. With far lesser vehicular contraptions.
Will FASTER rocket to the top? Will this black beast unleash hell onto the evils of the world? Will I grab this black and white striped classic and head to a local car show? Most certainly…
The Premiere for “FASTER” will be Monday night at Mann’s Chinese in Hollywood and I’ll be there to support another entry into Fireball’s Automotive Hollywood Hall of Fame.
Bottom line, “FASTER” is poised to dent, carve, draft, push and force it’s way to the top. And with a 1971 Chevy Malibu SS, I’d step outta the way if I were you…
