DID YOU KNOW?? Grandpa Munster built the Drag-U-La to win back the Munster Koach after Herman lost it in a race (Episode “Hot Rod Herman.”) It was so popular that it was added to the end credits of the following year. Rob Zombie wrote a song about the car in 1998! The original Drag-U-La was sold at auction in 1985 and is currently on display at the Hollywood Star Cars Museum in Gatlinburg, Tennessee!

Also in today’s DEAD-ON-ARRIVAL BLAST… THE PARTRIDGES was another hit from 1970-74 and the BUS disappeared into the annals of History… never to be seen again. Many rumors afloat, but it’s shots like this that are GOLD! Also, some Fireball Car Show Peeps and Celebs reveal the Terrible Tryptic of Ah-nuld, Sly and Willis, a jacked Chevy 3100, Model T Mafia and the MacGids with their cool Minty Wagon. Also ‘Nuther Classic is the WIENERMOBILE… and it kept it’s name after some people attempted to say that “Wieners” were inappropriate. We say that “When in doubt, eat a WIENER.”

Some cool rides on the Fireball Scanner include the delivery of the MUNSTER KOACH and a Massive ’59 CADDY. Big, Bold and Beautiful…

Today’s BEST OF SHOW?? MASERATIS are silly expensive, but this Playlist might make you want to buy a Hot Wheels Version!! Watch below of HIT THE CHANNEL!

The History of George Barris’ BLOODY MUNSTERS DRAGULA…

In the pantheon of iconic TV vehicles, few are as instantly recognizable and beloved as the Munster Koach and its sinister sibling, the DRAGULA. Designed for the classic 1960s television show “The Munsters,” Dragula was a ghoulishly inspired creation that perfectly complemented the eerie yet endearing family of monsters. And we’ve got all new stuff IN THE GARAGE!

Designed by legendary builder and friend George Barris, Dragula was envisioned as a hot rod for the afterlife. Its design drew heavily from the coffin shape, featuring a fiberglass body molded to resemble a classic coffin, complete with ornate trimmings and a gothic aesthetic that oozed macabre charm. The car’s front end was adorned with a striking spider-web grille, while the rear featured a decorative lantern and a pair of menacing zoomie pipes that jutted out like demonic horns.

Constructed in a remarkably short span of only three weeks, Dragula was completed just in time for its debut in “The Munsters” episode titled “Hot Rod Herman,” which aired in 1965. The year I was BORN. The rapid build was matched by a modest budget, reportedly costing around $18,000 at the time—a testament to Uncle George’s ingenuity and craftsmanship.

Despite its brief build time and relatively low cost, Dragula became an instant hit with audiences. Its appearances on “The Munsters” were limited but memorable, making a lasting impression with fans who appreciated its quirky yet sinister design. Dragula’s unique blend of horror and hot rod culture encapsulated the show’s playful approach to parodying classic horror tropes while adding a touch of humor and style.

Throughout its on-screen career, Dragula made occasional appearances in subsequent episodes and later adaptations of “The Munsters,” solidifying its status as an enduring symbol of the show’s legacy. Its influence extended beyond television, inspiring countless replicas and tributes in the car customizing community and becoming a sought-after collectible for enthusiasts of both classic cars and pop culture.

Today, Dragula remains a cherished artifact of television history—a testament to the creativity and imagination that brought “The Munsters” and its quirky cast of characters to life. Its legacy continues to thrill and delight fans, ensuring that its place in the annals of iconic TV vehicles remains secure for generations to come.

This CLASSIC MONSTER SERIES made best use of COOL CARS…

But we wanted more…

Every attempt to remake THE MUNSTERS failed miserably. Maybe it’s because they were remakes? When THE MUNSTERS came out, it was original. Unique. No one had ever seen anything like this before! And to try and remake something original is like reinventing the BALL. Note to Hollywood… Come up with something UNIQUE.

Each character in THE MUNSTERS was developed and flushed out, including THE CARS. The KOACH and the DRAGULA made sense because of the consistent DESIGN LANGUAGE. Like BARBIE. But so many choose the easy path in REMAKES because they think that it will MAKE MONEY. It rarely does… and SEQUELS do better.

But, it’s best to go old skool and just use your brain a bit more to come up with a new plan. Indiana Jones Meets I Love Lucy. Jurassic Park meets Superman. Or what about this… Come up with something that NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE. They did that in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Pretty sure it would work now…

**Get Fireball’s MUNSTERS KOACH or DRAGULA in the GARAGE on super cool stuff!!

DID YOU KNOW?? Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher’s credo while producing and writing for the classic family sitcom Leave it to Beaver was “write what you know.” Between them they had six children and they based a lot of their plots on their own home lives. They used this same philosophy when they created a sitcom about a suburban blue-collar family that just happened to be comprised of monsters. They didn’t want children to be frightened of the characters (as they might be when watching Frankenstein or Dracula during the Saturday afternoon “Creature Feature”), so they made Herman a typical working dad who carried a lunch box to work every day and who imparted homespun wisdom to his young son. The mother was caring and nurturing, even if she did serve rolled hyena foot roast for dinner, and an aging grandparent (who had a laboratory in the dungeon) lived with the family. All in all, a nice slice of down-home Americana.
