BUT DID YOU KNOW?? One of three Firebird Formulas provided by Pontiac Motor Division to the TV show “The Rockford Files,” it was used from 1978 until the series ended in 1980. With a special Sierra Gold exterior and tan interior, the factory Formula 400 model was modified to look like an Esprit for the show. Which is now a super rare car. Side note… James Garner was Fireball Pop’s BEST MAN at his wedding in 1958! Does that make him a Fireball Garner??

DID YOU KNOW?? The show was shot in black and white because the studio did not want to pay an extra $10,000 per episode for color. Cheap Bastards! But the Drag-U-La (Grandpa’s coffin car) was only built once by Barris. Many years after the show, it was hung from the ceiling in Planet Hollywood in Atlantic City, but now is located near Orlando, Florida. The interiors of the Munsters’ mansion were filmed on Stages 30 and 32 at Universal Studios. The set was often damaged by Herman’s tantrums…
Also in today’s DRAG-U-BLAST… Stunning Actor JESSICA CHASTAIN cruises Hollywood in this Flamed Bomb, Fireball at the HULL RANCH in Canada circa 1971 (Hockey Legend Bobby Hull. DID YOU KNOW?? The car driven by Don Johnson’s character, Sonny Crockett, was a white 1986 Ferrari Testarossa with a 4.9-liter, 390 horsepower flat-12 engine and a 5-speed manual tranny. The car was in storage after the show was canceled in 1989 and emerged again in 2015. 26 years!! It was then authenticated by Ferrari Classiche and Ferrari of North America. The car was offered at auction with no reserve… and sold for $151,800. Ferrari filed a lawsuit against the show’s crew for trademark infringement, but as a solution… Ferrari donated two new Testarossa Monospecchios to the show. ChaChing!

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE Daily! Today, we start off with a Classic TV Car… in Lady Penelope’s FAB 1 as a stunning Fireball MASTERPRINT from THUNDERBIRDS!! She was hot and the car was HOTTER!
DID YOU KNOW?? The FAB 1 awas a modified Rolls-Royce owned by Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward, an agent for International Rescue. FAB 1 had weaponry and gadgetry, including front and rear-mounted machine guns, grappling hooks, a smoke screen canister, and an oil slick dispenser. Sylvia Anderson, co-creator of the show, was the model for Lady Penelope and she recorded several singles in the 1960s as her, including the well-known “Parker, Well Done.” She was described as intelligent, rich, posh, lovely, poised, and beautifully dressed! Shagalicious!

DID YOU KNOW?? The Hannibal 8 was a custom-built, rocket-propelled car that could raise and lower itself, shoot a cannon, and create smoke screens. It was designed to be destructive and help the villainous driver beat his heroic competitor. The Hannibal 8 was powered by a Corvair 6-cylinder engine and had a 3-speed manual transmission and cost $150,000 to build in 1964, which is equivalent to over $1 million today!! After Warner Brothers let the cars go, they were displayed at the Movie World Cars of the Stars Museum in Buena Park, California… but where are they now??

BUT DID YOU KNOW?? Though “The Jetsons” never specified exactly what year in the future the show took place. Original press materials said it was set in 2062—a century in the future. But it was the network’s first show to air in color, though only viewers in a few cities could actually see it in color! But the show also predicted Flying Cars, Vertical Cities, Smart Bathrooms, Robot Assistance, Smart Appliances, Video Meetings & 3D Printed Food! Yikes!!
