BUT DID YOU KNOW?? FANTASY ISLAND began as two made-for-television movies… and did so well that it became a series which aired from 1978 to 1984. Every Saturday night, fans would wait with excitement to hear Tattoo yell “De plane! De plane!” to find out who was heading to the Creepy Island that week. People could come to live out their fantasies on the mysterious island, overseen by Mr. Roarke, but with anything… there was always a price. The network and producer Aaron Spelling actually wanted different actors in the lead role and most of the time, Spelling won. But not against “Rich Corinthian Leather!”

Remember the cool shows of the 70’s and 80’s? Ok, they weren’t actually that cool, but they were fun. Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky and Hutch, and… Fantasy Island. Well, let us begin with a shot of Rourke’s ride from that show, shall we? I shot this at the PCW’s Shop a while back. It’s in bad shape, but will be getting a resto. What else?
How about… The Renault DeZir Concept, art by Ben Carre and Andrei Perukhin, tasty Salad Pizza, an Alien Guitar and the oldest remaining Ford… the 1903 Model A now up for auction.

The idea for Fantasy Island was initially pitched as a joke by creator Aaron Spelling, who said “What do you want, an island where people can go and live out their sexual fantasies?” to an executive who surprisingly loved the concept. Network executives initially wanted Orson Welles to play Mr. Roarke, but Spelling declined due to concerns about his temper on set!
Also on today’s RICH CORINTHIAN BLAST… Fireball Car Show Peeps start out with Legendary Bond, PIERCE BROSNAN, OZZY OSBOURNE, PARNELLI JONES and Fireball on set for STREET TUNER CHALLENGE in his original Shop in Torrance! DID YOU KNOW?? Hervé Villechaize, famously known as “Tattoo” on “Fantasy Island,” was a French actor, artist, and photographer. He was born with proportionate dwarfism, resulting in a height of 3 feet 11 inches. He also had a talent for painting, starting at a young age and having his work exhibited at the Museum of Paris by the age of 18. Villechaize also appeared in the James Bond film “The Man with the Golden Gun” as “Nick Nack,” a henchman to the villain Scaramanga.

BATGIRL, Leno, Hot Rods, TJ Hooker, Dukes, Behind the Scenes
Welcome back to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Hope everyone had a MOST EXCELLENT Christmas! Today, we explode outta the gate with this Classic BATGIRL Masterprint! Sure, she didn’t have a car in the series, BUT SHE SHOULDA! And this was Fireball’s take! The ’55 BATCLASSIC! Check out the coolness in the Garage!
DID YOU KNOW?? In the 1966 Batman TV show, Batgirl (played by Yvonne Craig) was known for her iconic “Batgirl Cycle” which was actually a customized Yamaha YCS1 Motorcycle with special “bat-wing” additions. She performed most of her own stunts, and her character was introduced as a way to add a “girl power” element to the show, often playfully competing with Batman and Robin as part of the “Terrific Trio!” Despite the production wanting a BATGIRL Spinoff, she only appeared in a handful of episodes throughout the series. Bummer… ’cause we would watched that!
