Good morning and WELCOME TO AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Why drink out of a boring old Mug when you can snag ROBOTS with this great NEW ART of MAXIMILLIAN from the Disney Classic, THE BLACK HOLE! Yes, back when NEW IDEAS were flourishing and took us to the edge of the Universe! Check out the Coolness IN THE GARAGE NOW!

DID YOU KNOW?? The music for the film was composed by John Barry. With a production budget of $20 million, plus another $6 million for advertising, it was at the time the most expensive picture ever produced by Disney. In the early 1970s, the film was initially conceived as a space-themed disaster film, but many fans consider “The Black Hole” to be an unofficial spin-off of “Star Wars” because both stories took place in space and feature droids. The film had a record opening weekend for Disney, grossing $4.7 million from 889 theaters, and it earned $35.8 million in the United States and Canada. The film featured actors like Ernest Borgnine, Maximilian Schell, Robert Forster, and Yvette Mimieux.

And meanwhile, on PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball meets up with buddy and Executive Creative Director for Acura DAVE MAREK at the Honda/Acura Museum, PLUS, hits the Fuel for Life show to plop in a tiny CLASSIC FIAT 500! And WHEELS & WAVES is this weekend!! Don’t miss the Birthday Celebration!

SQUAD 51, Ghostbusters, Hillbillies, Celeb Coloring Books!

Good morning you Bodacious Buggers… and WELCOME TO AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! We’re featuring some new versions of Fireball Classic pieces starting with SQUAD 51 from EMERGENCY! The perfect gift for the Firefighting Family! And reach out if you’d like a CUSTOM SIZE!

DID YOU KNOW?? “Emergency!” showcased the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s new paramedic program, with the show’s fire station, Station 51, actually being represented by Los Angeles County Fire Station 127 in Carson, California. At the time the show aired, the Los Angeles County Fire Department did not have a Station 51, the number was chosen because it was a station that had previously existed and closed in the late 1960s. Station 127 was chosen as the filming location for Station 51 because the way it sat limited problems with the angle of the sun for filming.

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball hangs with buddy Christopher Hubbard and the original GHOSTBUSTERS ECTO 1 in the shop back in the day. Although not built there, the cars were stored during filming. PLUS, the DREDD BIKE from JUDGE DREDD!!
FEATURED ART! Were you a fan of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES? The only thing better than Fireball’s Jalopy Art was a ELLY MAY! Get it in the Garage NOW!
CONCEPT ART!! An amazing Football piece from Vintage MUSCLE & FITNESS and Fireball’s early concept for the yet-unmade Marvel Film PLASTICMAN! The Evil Lair…
CELEB COLORING BOOKS!! Fireball’s done many Celebrity Coloring Books over the years and here’s three hits still in the Store! Master Builder GENE WINFIELD is getting NEW COVER ART soon so snag this Classic Collectible NOW! It’ll never be back! Also, the Official MAGNUS WALKER and VEHICLES OF SYD MEAD! Check ’em out in the Barnes  Noble Store!

And lastly, today’s FEATURED ARTIST is JEAN GIRAUD MOEBIUS and this super cool flying bike… long before Star Wars did it!

GALACTICA, Leno, Hot Wheels & Blade Runner BEHIND THE SCENES

It’s FRIDAY!! And to celebrate, let’s do some AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE starting with this hot new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Stealth Colonial Viper Art! Super cool VINTAGE CAST mixed with Fireball’s rendition of a Black Viper, plus shame your friends (and their silly blank MUGS) with the BADASS SHIP!! We’re you a fan of the BG??

DID YOU KNOW?? The original Battlestar Galactica series, which aired in 1978, had a short run but spawned a loyal fanbase, with iconic characters like Apollo and Starbuck, and several fun facts, including its Mormon-inspired theology and the creation of the word “frack!” The Cylon sound was later incorporated into K.I.T.T. on Knight Rider in 1982! Both Cylons and K.I.T.T. have one red eye that moves side to side. The sound of a Viper, when it was launched from the Galactica, was the same sound K.I.T.T. made when David Hasselhoff activated the Turbo Boost to make the car jump!

And meanwhile… on PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball visits JAY LENO’S GARAGE and spots ridiculous amounts of coolness! Plus, takes a spin with famous Artist/Painter HAROLD CLEWORTH!

NEW FEATURED ART! A great new piece of the Hot Wheels BEATNIK BANDIT is now IN THE GARAGE! Expand your Collection into the world of DIECAST! But which HW Car should Fireball do next?? LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW!!

CONCEPT ART! Here’s a Classic Fireball Concept Art piece from the film PITCH BLACK. The original ship was called the BEAMRIDER and traveled the stars vi a Beam of Light!

FIREBALL’S COLORING BOOKS are expanding!! With tons of MUSCLE CARS, it’s time to switch things up! The NEXT COLORING BOOK is EUROPEAN CARS in it’ll be out in 2 weeks or less!!! OO La La Coolness!! Get ’em WHOLESALE for your MUSEUM, HOTEL or STORE!!

BEHIND THE SCENES!! A series of Original POLAROID SNAPS from the set of BLADE RUNNER reveals some tiny EASTER EGGS! Like a Harrison Ford STUNT DOUBLE LOOK-A-LIKE!

And lastly… today’s FEATURED ARTIST is Master DREW STRUZAN and his amazing BLADE RUNNER POSTER ART from the original film!

BATS, Speeding Ticket, Pitch Black, Terminator & AMAZING ART

It’s almost the weekend, so WELCOME TO AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE THURSDAY! Today is fulla BATS starting with this amazing 1966 BARRIS BAT and Fireball’s (semi-modified) Original Sketch for the 1989 BAT from 1986! Both great pieces for your NOSTALGIC GARAGE WALL or MAN CAVE… or get ’em MUGGED!

DID YOU KNOW?? The first Batmobile appeared in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939) as Bruce Wayne’s red sedan. The term “Batmobile” wasn’t used until Detective Comics #48 (February 1941), when Robin started calling it that! Ug,… teenagers. The Batmobile driven by Michael Keaton in the 1989 and 1992 movies was built on two 1967 Chevy Impalas found in a London junkyard! They featured V-8 Chevrolet engines, components of a Rolls-Royce jet engine for the hood-mounted intake, and turbine blades from a British Harrier fighter jet! Zoinks!!

And meanwhile… ON PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball meets up with GM Head at the time, BOB LUTZ at the LA Auto Show 2008 and then recently, celebrates a Winner at the FUEL FOR LIFE Car Show!

FEATURED ART today is Fireball’s BATMISSILE & BATMAN REVENGE Sketches! Batalicious ON MUGS!! Check ’em out and be sure to hit the BATACHINNO! Also… a RANDOM FIREBALL from Ventura with the Ball getting a Speeding Ticket for standing still! PLUS, a HYPERTECH SKETCH for Muscle & Fitness Magazine called PIPELINER from the early 90’s and his VERY FIRST SKETCH for the film PITCH BLACK. This one was done in his first meeting with Director David Twohy over Coffee. Watch the film to see what it became!

BEHIND THE SCENES from the shop back in the day… This TERMINATOR was hired for security. All good until clients started to disappear. Wups. We had to let him go…

And lastly… this amazing painting from Master DAN GOOZEE of SPLASH MOUNTAIN at Disneyland. Tell us you remember this one! The weekend is almost here, so remember to DRAW LIKE A BOSS!!

GOMER PYLE, Boss Hogg, Disney, Cool Art & NEW COLORING BOOK!

So much good stuff in today’s AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Let’s get started with a BRAND NEW FIREBALL SKETCH… and it’s GOMER PYLE U.S.M.C in his sick hot-rodded Radioactive Army Jeep! It’s in the Garage NOW on MUGS, TEES & CANVAS!! Check it out!

DID YOU KNOW?? Gomer Pyle was created by taking the first name of Gomer Cool and the last name of Denver Pyle, and the show was a spin-off of “The Andy Griffith Show!!!” It featured Gomer’s final appearance in the series, though the previous episode was his final appearance with Barney Fife. “Gomer Pyle, USMC” ended after five seasons despite good ratings because Jim Nabors wanted to do a musical-variety show. He was in credible singer, so that made sense!

And meanwhile on PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball remembers friend and confidante, Actor FRANCESCO QUINN (Son of Anthony Quinn) who’s career was cut short after his sudden death in 2011 in Malibu. He was a tremendous force in television with roles on “24,” “PLATOON” & James Bond’s “QUANTUM OF SOLACE.” Also, VINTAGE FIREBALL on set for DUKES OF HAZZARD as a teenager! This was 1979!

FEATURED ART!! BATGIRL 1955 needs her own Movie and Fireball’s got the perfect ride, PLUS… What if the Joker stole the BATMOBILE?? Here he ponders mayhem in the Bat from BATMAN FOREVER!! Also, an early piece from 1991 at WALT DISNEY IMAGINEERING deep inside TOMORROWLAND’S Top Secret SpeedLair… and a Concept for a Fireball Experience called THE HOLLYWOOD GARAGE. Will they build it??

NEW COLORING BOOK!! Fireball’s Brand-New VINTAGE CARS Coloring Book is finally out! Some amazing examples of Vintage, Classic and Antiques! Get it at Barnes & Noble, and if you’re a Museum… order ’em WHOLESALE and we’ll toss in a FREE BOOK! Just REACH OUT! askfireball@fireballtim.com

BEHIND THE SCENES!! Can you pinpoint what movie these RED CLASSICS were from? Driven by a Tough Guy through the Streets of LA, and looking for something…

FEATURED ARTIST today is Master CHRIS FOSS and this stunning High Desert piece. What would you do if you spotted this on the way to VEGAS… baby?

BEST OF SHOW!! Fireball sits with BIG DOG JAY LENO to talk Cool Books for Kids! The BIG BOOK OF WACKY RIDES is now… ZANY ZIPSTERS! WATCH here on Facebook!!

EMMA PEEL, Baron, Chitty, Barbie, Baretta, Chickens & DENZEL

Good morning Knuckleheads, and WELCOME TO AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY!! If you’re new to The Fireball Tim Garage, then you’ve discovered where CARS, ART & HOLLYWOOD converge for Amazing Coolness! And today, we launch with the Emma Peel 1966 LOTUS ELAN S3 Drophead Coupe from THE AVENGERS!! Now in the Garage!! Plus, this great Historic piece called BARON VON BADASS! Check it out on the MUG!!

DID YOU KNOW?? Emma Peel, played by Diana Rigg in “The Avengers,” was known for her stylish outfits and driving her Lotus Elan, and the car was even gifted to Rigg at the end of the series! It’s a small, lightweight sports car with a steel backbone chassis, a fiberglass body, independent front and rear suspension, and a punchy four-cylinder engine. Like the car, Emma Peel’s fashion choices (including avant-garde outfits and tight-fitting jumpsuits) made her a fashion icon of the 1960s. Hubba, Hubba…

And today… on PLANET FIREBALL, The Ball spots one of his favorite rides… a 1970 FIAT 500 at a local show. DING! WINNA! Plus, back in the day, he and the team at CVS restored the original CHITTY, CHITTY, BANG, BANG! The fully-working Chitty car, which was designed by Ken Adam and built by the Ford Racing Team, is now located in New Zealand, owned by Director Peter Jackson!!

FEATURED ART!! Fireball busts out BARBIE’S CORVETTE, BARETTA’S IMPALA, a Spaceship Concept for the film “IMPACT,” and an early SKETCH of the car from SON OF THE MASK…as a NISSAN Z!!

Fireball has a huge list of CARS to SKETCH this year, but for now… it’s THE ATEAM VAN!! Check out the coolness in the Garage! (Do you guys want STICKERS?? Let us know!!)

DID YOU KNOW?? The A-Team van, a 1983 GMC Vandura, is an iconic pop culture symbol, known for its red stripe, black and red turbine mag wheels, and rooftop spoiler. It was used by the A-Team throughout the show. During the show’s run, a total of eight customized 1983 G-Series GMC Vandura vans were used, with two serving as the primary hero versions for close-ups and casual driving scenes, and the rest for stunt driving. Some vans were older models that were used for extreme stunts, including submersion scenes and jumps. And one of the six officially licensed vans was actually driven by Mr. T around the country… appearing at car shows and other promotional events!

And today… on PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball visits Lucasfilm in San Francisco and meets up with MASTER YODA! He was a bit stiff, but good conversation! Also, Fireball’s Birthday Celebration is happening at WHEELS AND WAVES on April 6th IN CHANNEL ISLANDS!! DON’T MISS IT!
