Boyd Coddington passed away at 6:30 this morning.  He was 63. …Only 63.

Your time is limited, people. Only sixty-three years for Boyd. A man, despite his difference with people, lived his passion.

Get off your butts and live your lives!! Do what you’ve always wanted and stop making EXCUSES.

Rest in peace, Boyd.  We’ll miss your visions.

Barter your way to Success…

johnnysminismall.jpg

Yea, we all have to work for a living. Sucks sometimes, but when you can give to get, that works out well too.

Good friend of mine, Johnny DeGirolamo (aka Johnny’s Auto Clinic) asked if I would help him out with a new sign for his shop. Johnny’s shop is in San Pedro and it was due for a facelift, so I set to work. And the above was the result over this weekend. Johnny’s MINI, …Fireballed!

These kind of things are fun. I do my best and Johnny appreciates it. He hooked my wife up with some spanky new brakes for her Jeep in return. Johnny’s done many things with me in the past and is the best guy around for fixing cars. Look him up. But sometimes, eliminating cash is a very rewarding experience.

How can you take what you do and give it to someone else to make them look and feel good. After all, isn’t that the bottom line? Feeling good? I mean, this life isn’t always about getting something, is it?

I try my best to give when I can, in any way that I can. It’s a Natural Law, so it’s worth it. Give to Get, and see what happens.

I’m grateful to Johnny for asking…

Been one of those weeks…

 img_5880.JPGimg_5881.JPGimg_5856.JPG

Yea, we all have ’em, eh? Like, no matter how hard you try, it just keeps getting more and more challenging.

My Mom was diagnosed with Cancer last week. Terminal, they said Monday. Then, by Friday after getting more detail, they said that it was treatable and she wouldn’t die. That was a hellava rollercoaster for everyone.

So began a chain that ended Friday of very unusual events concerning everything from my son moving away to San Francisco with a great job to unusual Tax stuff. But somewhere in all that muck, I discovered a satisfying treat…

At the CITY BAKERY in Brentwood I found those unbelievable  Hot Chocolate on the planet. Worth a trip from New York, this one. 26th Street and San Vicente. It went down like a warm blanket of chocolatey goodness. Ah, the simple things.

What else….

Oh, two shows confirmed coming up. The HUNTINGTON BEACH CONCOURS d’ ELEGANCE and THE RCX SHOW. Check the sites for info. I’ll be there, havin’ fun. Come say hi… (I may have some treats)

Reading Charles Haanel’s MASTER KEY SYSTEM. The book rumored to have launched Bill Gates. I can see why. Get it from Kallisti Publishing. It will be the most profound read you’ve ever done.

Oh, and a wee excitement in Malibu. Labor Day accident. No one seriously hurt, but a motorcyclist down for the count. He couldn’t win against an Infinity, but a MINI showed up to help as usual.

Oh, shot four new episodes of AUTO DISSECTION. Check ’em out here. They should be airing next week. 3 Episodes up now, but the four new ones will include the Dodge Challenger and the Audi R8.

Yea, it was a busy week, but like all things everything turns out well.

Stress leads to STRENGTH…

 get-attachment-1.jpg

Building a car, doing a good job or dealing with sour people all leads to certain stresses. But once again, it’s your perspective on that stress that determines you outcome. E+R=O. Event plus your Reaction determines your Outcome. Therefore, nothing can touch you.

So, this from my friend Eric…

“This reminds me of an orthopaedic principle. Called Wolf’s Law:

Bone response to stress, the more stress on a segment of bone, the stronger it becomes. Tree trunks are a good example. Trees on the sides of mountains, protected from storms and stress, usually have nice straight trunks. Look good, but can’t withstand much stress before failure. Trees at the tops of mountains are bent, deformed, but have major trunk diameters and branch diameters and can handle any storm that comes along.

Fortunately, humans are the same way. If we handle stress and respond to it by becoming stronger and “increase our mental tree trunk diameter,” the next storm is not much different than the other storms we’ve seen it before. We can handle it and we get through it.

So, increase your trunk diameter and this will pass like anything else. There will be something positive out of this, or in time it won’t seem like much of a problem.”

EJ, the Bone Philosopher!

Nice.

Southern California BLUES…

 santamonica.jpg

Why would anyone want to live in a place like this…

Southern California, if you’ve never been here, is really a tough place to hang. I mean, blue sky and 75 degrees in February. Ok, as if that doesn’t raise the mad jealous factor to 10, nothing will. But here’s the point…

Choice. …as in we all have them daily. It may seem that when the world is against us, we don’t. But we do.

It may seem impossible when we look at a mountain of debt and the how’s seem unsurmountable, we don’t. But we do.

A wise man once said, “Just take the first step, you don’t have to climb the whole staircase.” That man was Martin Luther King.

Live where you WANT to live, not where you HAVE to live. And you’ll find a way…
