Would COOL CARS actually make modern TV Shows better??
It’s a fact. And it was proven in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. COOL CARS make TV Shows and Movies fun to watch… And the #1 Movie Franchise is all about them.
But if someone in Hollywood fully understood this… that CARS are as much characters in film as are the Actors, then they’d understand that NO SERIES wouldn’t be improved by adding a COOL CAR. It’s always been a major point of story telling, as the audiences who love cars are the BIGGEST IN THE WORLD. Bigger than SPORTS.
In fact, most Action Films are not really action without a CHASE. But Hollywood right now is pumping out series after series with NO VEHICLES. But those shows that draw us in are the ones that have CARS. I’m watching LONGMIRE right now and it’s a Mystery Series. But every time Walt gets into his BRONCO, it’s just plain cool to see where he goes.
Every day here at Fireball, we celebrate CARS in FILM. Why? Because it’s my job in film to DESIGN THEM and help tell the stories. And as I grew up in a family of writers, STORY IS KING. Check out my page on Art Station. And as always to celebrate, let’s check out these cool babies from some of our favorite shows. Click the SKETCHES to see what we have IN THE GARAGE and then get busy slurpin’ coolness…

WATCH! All new ALIEN ROMULUS Trailer brings out your SHRILL
Really looking forward to this latest ALIEN installment, ALIEN ROMULUS. I’m assuming that Romulus is the name of the ship in keeping with past films…. the original being the Nostromo. But there have been many vehicles from this franchise over the years and I may have to do more of them like this APC. Check it out IN THE GARAGE and WATCH below!
DID YOU KNOW?? It was Concept Artist Ron Cobb who came up with the idea that the Alien should bleed acid.
If you could merge FAST AND FURIOUS with another film…
Some of the best ideas can be found in Hollywood by merging 2 successful script concepts. Today, we ponder merging FAST AND FURIOUS with Cyberpunk films like JOHNNY NMEMONIC, BLADE RUNNER & AKIRA. How would this MITSUBISHI change??
For now, check out all of Fireball’s JDM’s and MAKE A SUGGESTION by Leaving a Comment!
DID YOU KNOW?? When filming F&F1, the crew had tried everything they could to get their 1970 Dodge Charger to pull a wheelie during one of the most memorable scenes of the entire film. Sadly, the tires just wouldn’t bite properly. As a result, a specialized hydraulic rig was positioned underneath the Charger, which was obscured from view by the cameras as it lifted the front end up and gave the illusion of a proper wheelie. Done.

One of the GREATEST SCI-FI FILMS of all time… SKETCHED
Most people would say that BLADE RUNNER is the Greatest Sci-Fi Film of all time. And as much as the combination of Ridley Scott, Harrison Ford and Syd Mead might be amazing (and it is)… there is another.
THE FIFTH ELEMENT is certainly (along with VALERIAN) one of the most unique Sci-Fi epics ever created. This combination included Director LUC BESSON, BRUCE WILLIS and the talents of Art Greats like JEAN GIRAUD MOEBIUS.
But today’s SKETCH of Korben Dallas’ TAXI from THE FIFTH ELEMENT celebrates unique Sci-Fi and CARS. If you’re a fan of the film, check out the GARAGE and what we have, but also WATCH THE FILM and others inspired by the work of these amazing people.
In film, WORLD-BUILDING is key for immersion and INSPIRATION. See what others are doing and let those ideas percolate into your life.
DID YOU KNOW?? The Fifth Element was a film of many firsts. Not only did it break financial records at the time, but it also achieved numerous cinematic milestones. One of the major ones involved an action scene that could’ve gone terribly wrong. There’s a moment in the film where an explosion engulfs the Fhloston main hall in flames. While this might seem relatively trivial in a sci-fi action affair, it’s important here because it was the largest indoor explosion ever filmed at the time. No CGI – it was all real.
What if BACK TO THE FUTURE became a TIME SERIES??
Sure, we don’t want to mess with a good thing, but that’s where SERIES come in to explore Micro-Possibilities that the movies wouldn’t. A chance to see where STORIES could go without tarnishing the originals.
Many people have explored an idea for BACK TO THE FUTURE 4, but the Director has confirmed that there won’t be one. That doesn’t mean that Universal couldn’t explore Spin-offs? What would you guys think about a SERIES that gets LOST IN TIME. Like today’s BOSOZUKO DELOREAN, young time-travelers could not only go to and fro, but imagine the possibilities of TIME-MERGENCE?
WHAT IF possibilities like what Marvel has done… but instead of characters… it’s TIMESLICING like Cyberpunk MEETS Victorian or Old West Roman? Pretty limitless…

DID YOU KNOW?? Back to the Future is a title nearly as iconic as the movie itself, but did you know that it wasn’t originally going to be called that? Yup, the studio wanted to call it…”Space Man From Pluto,” a title that sounded weird and fun, but has absolutely nothing to do with the plot of Back to the Future! Luckily producer Steven Spielberg stepped in and made sure the title didn’t suck.
Should BREAKING BAD return with something even WORSE??
I often ponder the idea of the RETURN of successful shows. But, as everyone in Hollywood is an expert and thinks their idea is the best, we must always revert back to the SOURCE.
STORY…
Movies and TV are compartmentalized into several initial factors. Great Characters, Locations, Tools and Situations. Not all of them work well, but BREAKING BAD did. And it’s massive arced story line sucked us into the journey of Walter White, Jesse Pinkman and the Bounder. But if the show came back, there would have to be something truly unique with incredible but different character arcs. Not just more of the same. Thus… BLUE SPIDER.
Today’s SKETCH celebrates unique STORY… and not all interesting characters are people. But along with the arc of the female BLUE SPIDER, the 1986 FLEETWOOD BOUNDER RV (The Krystal Ship) was a major player in BB, as are all CARS in respective films. Maybe she finds it in a dump? Or lost in the desert?
More cool ART is now in the Garage to keep your love of CARS in FILM alive and well. So join me to ponder greatness, creepy cool and above all… STORY. This young lady was a sweet innocent student… until she wasn’t.
DID YOU KNOW?? The Breaking Bad RV was the 1986 Fleetwood Bounder recreational vehicle known for its unique features. In 1950, Fleetwood started offering blinds for travel trailers. Soon the company’s founder John C. Crean switched from blinds to manufacturing travel trailers themselves. Since then, Fleetwood has produced many models for about 35 years, making the Breaking Bad RV model one of the oldest. They typically range from 26.6 to 34 feet, can accommodate between three to five people, include freshwater tanks with 70 to 100 gallon capacities and feature a 10-cubic-foot refrigerators, microwaves, gas ranges and oven and wall-to-wall carpeting!
Today’s SKETCH comes from the sixties STREETS OF L.A…
Cop Shows like ADAM 12 were a plenty when I grew up. My dad was writing many of them. They were, however, very different than today’s shows.
Far less violent, campy, bright and they kept story-lines simple and about people. Today’s shows are ultra-violent, very serious and DARK. Which would you rather watch if you are trying to maintain a good life? CHOOSE WISELY, my friends. What you allow into your mind… becomes your experience.
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” Emile Coue
Get today’s NEW SKETCH in the Garage!!
DID YOU KNOW?? Adam-12 was an American television drama which originally aired from September 21, 1968 to August 26, 1975 on NBC for 175 episodes. The show was produced by Jack Webb’s Mark VII Limited, which also produced Dragnet and Emergency!
Today’s Fireball SKETCH comes ONLY IN EVIL ORANGE…
There are hundreds of MOVIE CARS to choose from now in the Garage, but many requests have come in for Fireball to do Art of the ADAM’S PROBE 16 from “A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.” This is Version 2 and it was called the DURANGO 95 in the film… a name coined by Director Stanley Kubrick. Watch Fireball’s BEST OF SHOW below and check it out along with the rest of the ACO Coolness here.!!
DID YOU KNOW?? Only three PROBE 16’s were ever produced. The first – AB/2, license plate MJO 145H – was sold to American songwriter Jimmy Webb. The second – AB/3, license plate PWV 222H – was sold to Cream bassist Jack Bruce, who then gave it to co-band member of Corky Laing as a birthday gift. The third – AB/4, license plate JFB 220H – was owned originally by Robin Gibbons of England. All three cars are still in existence today with different owners…
This is why Stallone’s COBRA was lost for 19 years…
There’s a lot of STORIES about this car… but this is what actually happened as far as I can recall. There was a lot going on at that time.
Approximately 2005, I was working with a shop in Burbank designing and building MOVIE CARS. I did Gone in 60, Austin Powers and many more with them. We were working on multiple projects at the time, but I came up with the idea to take some of these cars to AUTO SHOWS to help promote the business. I wasn’t working for them, but actually contracted them to build a truck for AUTOTRADER and part of the Street Tuner Challenge MINI.
The owner of the shop said to take any car I wanted to the show. ANY… CAR. The 2005 LA AUTO SHOW. So… I walked the shop for a while with percolating ideas as to what I’d take. It was a big place (100,000sqft) and lots of cars. But I came across a car that was up on a RACK… and covered. I asked the foreman… “What’s that?” And his reply STUNNED ME.
“That, my friend… is THE COBRA.”
Now, I had heard that after they finished filming COBRA with Sylvester Stallone, he purchased the remaining car… but once principal photography was done, the car quietly disappeared. Never to be seen again from 1986.
But there it was. Hidden away in the shop, sleeping. So, I said to him… “I want it.” His reply? “Well, SO AND SO did say that you could take ANY car, right?”
A few days later, I was at the AUTO SHOW with a display of 5 cars including my STC MINI, the MINI M600 DRAG CAR, Eleanor, a GemCar… AND THE COBRA. The display looked awesome.
It was the first day in Kentia Hall (early) when the Celebs walked through before the crowds. Ahnuld walked by and several others until… as I was wiping the cars down, I turned to see Sly standing behind me. He had a look of utter SHOCK on his face as he stared at the COBRA.
“That’s my car,” he muttered. I replied amusingly, “What yes it is!” His response?? “No, that car BELONGS TO ME.”
We spoke for about 10 minutes and I explained what I knew… only to find out the truth that he indeed had the Pink. So, I called the owner of the shop and you can imagine his head exploding.
He got on the phone with Sly and withing a few minutes, a DEAL WAS DONE. After 12 days of the show, Sly came back personally and drove his COBRA home. Super cool guy and very generous. Only… he lived in Malibu at the time right in front of me. He, he… And that’s where the car stayed… until he MOVED again.
That’s it. Pretty incredible, huh? I’m grateful that I had it at the show and saw many people taking photos of it with their kids. Super cool. But Snakes belong with their owners and I’m glad it went with him. Oh… and I will be SKETCHING that car soon FOR THE GARAGE. fireballtimgarage.art
