The Corvette was built specifically for the film by Korky’s Kustom Studios and was converted to right-hand drive for practical filming purposes, allowing Mark Hamill to easily interact with characters on the sidewalk. Only two of the customized Corvettes were built for the movie, a main car and a backup.

Today’s CONCEPT CAR?? The infamous 1958 GM FIREBIRD 3 broke a number of legendary GM designer Harley Earl’s styling rules, and that’s one of the reasons it became such an important design. It had very little chrome and no parallel lines. The vehicle also put the ultimate twist on tailfins!!

DID YOU KNOW?? According to Hot Wheels lore, because of the fact that Harry Bradley worked for GM shortly before moving to Mattel, he snuck out copies of the blueprints into his cane (he had polio) for the real ’68 Stingray and used them as a base for the Hot Wheels model! SPY MODE ACTIVATED!! Since he was a designer there, he knew exactly where to get the materials for designing these new “Hot Wheels” in 1967; when the casting was released, GM “was not happy.”
When the first 16 Hot Wheels debuted in the summer of 1968, the Custom Corvette was one of them. And the cat was out of the bag, as Chevrolet’s 1968 Corvette was not due out for another few months still. This worked out in a good way, as it created more hype for Chevrolet and the Stingray from both kids and adults alike.

DID YOU KNOW?? The Corvette used in the movie was a 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that was converted to right-hand drive. The car was painted candy apple red with metal flake and flames. It also had a clam-shell hood, Superior mags, Gabriel shocks, and Mercury tubes. Years later, the hero car was found wrecked in a junkyard by producer Matthew Robbins!

DID YOU KNOW?? What do Richard Pryor, Rob Reiner and Ronald Reagan’s daughter Maureen have in common? They were all guest stars on “The Partridge Family.” The show hit the air in 1970 and quickly became a hit, transforming velour pantsuits, neck ruffles and David Cassidy into national obsessions. But the bus was originally a school bus used by the Orange County School District. Screen Gems, the company that produced the show, bought it for $500!! It was painted in a Mondrian-inspired style of primary colors, but after the show ended, wound up in a Los Angeles junkyard in 1987. The bus has been the subject of many unconfirmed sightings since then, including in a backyard in Northern California and a junkyard in upstate New York. YIKES, SCOOBY!

DID YOU KNOW?? Z06 stands for ZORA OPTION 6 or “Zora 06.” It’s the name of a package of features for the Chevrolet Corvette that was created in 1963 by Zora Arkus-Duntov, the car’s chief engineer. The Z06 was a secret package that allowed Corvette owners to race their cars and compete in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

There I was, minding my own business back in 2024 when my Corvette became to pooped to pop. I was driving through the outback in AussieTown, trying to avoid the occasional Kangaroo and UFO’s overhead. This was 60 years ago. And since there was no one out there to help me… I just left the car there and started walking. And that was the beginning of my Outback Adventure… But that… is another story.
TODAY… it’s an OUTBACK CORVETTE SKETCH, not to be confused with the Outback Steakhouse, my friends. Hope you had a GREAT SUNDAY!

So Fireball took that car and launched it into the future to 2060! Thus, this super cool SKETCH from the beaches of Malibu for you to COLOR!! DO IT!
