EMERGENCY, Auction, Blankies, Rudolph & New Car Show Safari!
What’s up you FOOLISH FARTOLOGISTS and welcome to today’s EMERGENCY AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! And to celebrate, it’s Mantooth Time with Fireball’s SQUAD 51 ART! What’s a Fartiologist, you ask? Well, it’s a stinky job, but someone has to do it…
DID YOU KNOW? Emergency! was a TV show that inspired real-life paramedic programs, and its production featured a real fire station and a family affair with actors. The real Station 127 in Carson, CA, was used for external shots, and the show’s call sign, KMG365, is still a valid FCC license for the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) station. Actor Julie London and her husband Bobby Troup were married during the show’s run, and producer Jack Webb (Adam 12) was London’s ex-husband. While the interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage, the actual vehicles, Squad 51 and Engine 51, have been preserved and are now on display at the LOS ANGELES COUNTY FIRE MUSEUM and in the early years of the series, actors Kevin Tighe and Randolph Mantooth performed many of their own stunts.
And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… Tomorrow is the JULIEN’S AUCTION at the Petersen Museum! Tons of James Bond and Pop Culture items are being auctioned including Fireball’s STREET TUNER CHALLENGE MINI. And for a car with only 32 miles on the ODO… and about a $100K in Mods, IT’S A STEAL!

DID YOU KNOW?? Santa’s Sleigh originated from a combination of Dutch, Scandinavian and Norse traditions, but was cemented in modern lore by Clement Clarke Moore’s 1823 poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas.” The poem famously described a miniature sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer named Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen… who enabled Santa to travel the world in a single night. Norse God THOR’s chariot, pulled by two magical goats, was one potential influence on the idea of a flying, gift-giving figure propelled by magical animals. In the 19th century, a small children’s book published in 1821 contained the first illustration of Santa with reindeer, a precursor to Moore’s more famous version. Only question is… was one of the Reindeer named “V8?”
And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball discovers an unusual 70’s Custom built over a ’73 Lincoln Town Car in the 805. What’s the story? There was no one around to tell it! But boy, was it weird.
