BUT DID YOU KNOW?? The original Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood trolley was handcrafted in 1967 by Bill Ferguson for the Canadian program “Mister Rogers” and later served as the iconic trolley for “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.” Mister Rogers was inspired to include a trolley by his childhood, having ridden trolleys with his father. Children wrote to him asking why no people were on the trolley, which he explained was to encourage them to visualize themselves riding it. The trolley traveled about 5,000 miles a year, and the actual trolley is now a permanent exhibit at the Fred Rogers Center in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… So many events coming between now and the Holidays! And Fireball is GO, GO, GO!! GONE IN 60, Gort, Concepts, Santa, Legends, Books & Grease!
Howdy you NINKUMPOOP NUMBNUTS and welcome to today’s AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE!! We start off with an all-new GONE IN 60 SECONDS Fireball Masterprint, with a little follow-up destruction by GORT!! You remember Gort? He was the original Cylon… only he didn’t know it. 😉
BUT DID YOU KNOW?? Gort was loosely inspired by the character “Gnut” from the short story “Farewell to the Master” by Harry Bates. He was portrayed by Lock Martin, a 7’7″ tall actor and wore a thick foam-rubber suit, painted with aluminum to give it a metallic appearance. Two Gort suits were created to achieve a seamless metallic look on screen. One had fasteners in the back for front-facing shots, and the other had fasteners in the front for shots of Gort walking away. Lifts were incorporated into the suit’s boots to make him appear even taller… and Prisms were used to allow Martin to see out of the helmet’s visor, as it extended nearly a foot above his head!! Air holes were also provided under the robot’s chin for breathing.
And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… We celebrate a BEST OF SHOW with John Zimmerman’s 1947 Pickup, discover Fireball’s Secret Florida Pad hidden deep in the Everglades, scoot back to 1969 where Fireball raced his first car on the Track in Santa’s Village in Arrowhead! Fireball drives 600+hp 2025 DODGE CHARGER EV… not quietly
Man, I really thought this was gonna be lame. I mean, the 2025 DODGE CHARGER DAYTONA EV is electric… and supposed to be quiet. But some lame-o dood somewhere in the studio got the idea that “We should add the DIGITAL ENGINE SOUND to this car!” WTF???!!! Seriously??
So, when Stellantis reached out to me and said, “Take this car and let us know what you think…,” I thinked… this is gonna be so lame. Who in the hell would actually put a fake engine noise into a HyperMuscle Car?? But they did… and it showed up at the Fireball Garage 2 days later. CUT TO:
I walked out of the pad and immediately was surprisingly impressed with the design. Tough, sharp, bold, BIG and brawny. Just how I like Muscle Cars. Interior was the same, although simple and clean with a buncha doohickies to play with. And the fit and finish was all Dodge and no Dork.
But as I got in, I sat there hesitantly to hit this Charger ENGINE START BUTTON, as I had no idea what to expect. Was this gonna be lame? Was I gonna be disappointed? Did I forget to do my laundry? And as the seconds rolled by, that minute turning into 5, I sat there trying to think of things to do to avoid the “Official Lame-O Moment.” And at 5:01… I rolled my eyes… took a deep breath… and hit the button, Max. Expecting either a silent buzz or a cataclysmic sound failure… But… HOLY SHIZOLLA!! What the HELL was THAT??
A Launch Sound suddenly came on and I actually felt the VIBRATION from the engine, mixed with this ridiculously cool Spaceship Astro-Buzz that felt like the car was gonna do some serious road damage! I wasn’t Lame-o… it was LOUD. Loud like… I think I just woke up the 10am Neigbors Loud. And then… just then… it went into the Creepy Sinister Silent Mode. Like “I’m ready to do your Evil Bidding, my Master…” I even felt the Earth shudder a bit. Fuck my Laundry…
Then… I discovered the HOLY SWEET JESUS MODES. Electric, Sport and FUCK YEA. Oh, and DRAG, but I was too afraid to hit that one. So, FUCK YEA was it and I popped that puppy into gear. Out came… well, what can only be described as a RUMBLE FROM THE BRONX. A sound so loud and unnerving that I got a wee be self-conscious pulling away and pretty sure peed myself. It was like Mike Tyson in a Tuxedo… Sugar Ray with Diamond Cuffs… Denzel & Keanu in an EQUALIZE-WICK Teamup. (Hey, that’s not a bad idea, actually…) WICKWUALIZER!!
I rounded a few corners to an open blvd and swiftly HIT the gas… um, I mean VOLT… and what happened next slapped a smile on my face like getting hit across the noggen with a SUBWAY Sandwich! It was INSTANT, LOUD, THUNDEROUS and all pure CHARGER MUSCLE POWER. Holy Fuckin’ Shit on a Shingle!! This thing was a BEAST!! And right there in that moment started a week of spirited driving that took me to every corner of the 805… twice. People LOOKED, TOOK SELFIES, SMILED with missing teeth, cheered, thumb saluted and asked… “Is that a digital sound?? Holy Shit!”
Sure, I can tell you about cup holders, comfy seats, whorespower, boot space or frunk diddy frunk-frunk… but who cares. This new 2025 DODGE CHARGER DAYTONA EV was the funnest thing I’ve driven all year. And it’s worth every penny. ‘Cause, at the end of the day, we buy cars because of the way they make us FEEL. And this one made me feel like HOLY FUCKIN’ SHIT. I’m in… and you should be too.

DID YOU KNOW?? In “Escape From New York,” Isaac Hayes plays The Duke of New York, the powerful, charismatic, and violent leader of Manhattan Island, which has been converted into a maximum-security prison. Director John Carpenter cast Hayes, a blaxploitation icon, in the intimidating role of The Duke. Isaac Hayes was a renowned musician, composer, and actor, known for his Oscar-winning song “Theme from Shaft”. His musical talent is evident in his powerful presence as The Duke. The iconic ’77 Cadillac Fleetwood sedan with the fender-mounted chandeliers, driven by The Duke in the film, is considered the first “art car” in a feature film.

DID YOU KNOW?? The DMC DeLorean, famous from Back to the Future, has some interesting facts tied to it. The car’s speedometer only went up to 85 mph in production models, but a sticker was added to show 95 mph for filming. The movie’s choice of 88 mph for time travel was random. Six DeLoreans were used during filming, including one fiberglass replica. The restored DeLorean time machine features functional time circuits and sound effects, unlike the original movie prop. Only around 9,000 DeLoreans were ever made!
