DID YOU KNOW?? CBS was going to cancel the series after the first season because series star Mike Connors complained that this show was not very good at showing the consequences of violence. It also was the last television series to be produced by Lucille Ball’s production company, “Desilu.” But Lucille Ball used her power and influence to convince them to renew it for another season with the assurance that changes would be made. In the second season, Mannix was changed into a more hard-boiled independent private detective. The changes worked, and the series became a big hit running for eight seasons!!

Also in today’s HARD-BOILED BLAST… Were you a fan of THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN and BIGFOOT?? Oh, hell yea. Although… according to the Ball, he still needed a cool car! Also, a snap of Fireball with the MINI he designed for Speed Channel’s STREET TUNER CHALLENGE. It’s home now in Channel Islands!

NEWSFLASH!! Fireball will be at OJAI CARS & COFFEE this Sunday! Come and check out the show, grab some treats at the Westridge Market or join him for Breakfast! Also, you can meet DWAYNE BOWER!

COMMISSION ART!! A piece done for the unmade film TODDLERS featuring John Candy and Steve Martin as two doods who crash a plane in the Himalayas… only to discover a town where everyone is double normal size! They have to pretend to be TODDLERS… to escape! Also, Fireball whips a gouache piece for a JAGUAR Client back in the day and a Classic STILL LIFE Color Study from the early 80’s!

ON SET!! The Duke’s CADILLAC was a badass… so yes, the Ball WHIPSNAPPED that muther into shape! Get it ON A MUG HERE!!

BOOKS!! Fireball is almost ready to launch his next COLORING BOOK! Coming NEXT WEEK! What is it?? Oh… we ain’t that easy, folks… but it’s AWESOME!!

And a PARTING SHOT CLASSIC from Artist ART FITZPATRICK! What year was this Firebird??

Today’s BEST OF SHOW is a bit of windy nonsense from Fireball’s WHEELS AND WAVES in Channel Islands! WATCH BELOW or on YOUTUBE!!

BREAKING BAD ART, Bluebird Concept, Space Shuttle & On Set!!

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY!! So many cool things happening in the garage… LET’S GET TO IT! First up, Fireball busts out the PONTIAC AZTEK from BREAKING BAD and doubles down with a one-off Concept called the FIREBALL BLUEBIRD! This will be in the Garage for a LIMITED TIME ONLY!

DID YOU KNOW?? In “Breaking Bad,” Walter White’s iconic Pontiac Aztek was deliberately chosen by the show creators to represent his declining character, as the Aztek is widely considered one of the ugliest cars ever made; the show’s creator, Vince Gilligan, specifically picked the car and even selected its distinctive “fern green” color to further emphasize this point. While considered an unattractive car before “Breaking Bad,” the show’s notoriety significantly increased the recognition of the Pontiac Aztek, making it a pop culture icon. Thus… SKETCHED!!

Also in today’s HEISENBERG BLAST… A Vintage snap of Fireball, Daryl Starbird and GENE WINFIELD on set for MONSTER GARAGE, the SPACE SHUTTLE lands on PCH and a great Art Piece for MANIACS GARAGE!

NEWSFLASH!! Fireball is now writing for CALABASAS STYLE MAGAZINE with an upcoming Article on Joe Magliato and his TRINITY HOT ROD. Plus, Journalist Etraordinaire Barbara Burke interviews Fireball for a an upcoming piece in THE MALIBU TIMES. Out soon!

COMMISSION ART!! Three pieces today of Classic Vintage Ball Art starting with THE TOMORROWLAND MAGIC EYE DIGSITE. Done for Disney Imagineering in ’92, this was the original concept before GALAXY’S EDGE. Tomorroland was to be a SPACEPORT! Also, a Concept for a client called THE ICICLE. Exploring new packaging and under-explored materials. And Fireball whipsnaps a ’70 VETTE for a Socal Cruiser.

ON SET!! Vintage BEHIND THE SCENES snaps of the film “ESCAPE FROM LA” with Kurt Russell. Fireball was responsible for CONCEPT and Storyboards with John Carpenter. This was the final scene at THE HAPPY KINGDOM BY THE SEA and shot at Courthouse Square at the UNIVERSAL BACKLOT!

And lastly… today’s BEST OF SHOW episode scoots Fireball to VISUALIZE VENTURA CARS & COFFEE! So cool, it HURTS!! WATCH below of on YOUTUBE!

URBAN OUTLAW, Mad Max, SPFX, Spock, Chevys, Dukes & ATeam!

Good Morning folks, and WELCOME TO AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! Let’s launch outta the gate with Magnus Walker’s URBAN OUTLAW PORSCHE 277 and the MAD MAX MFP POLICE CAR! Imagine a chase with these guys through the night-time downtown Streets of LA! Now that’s a CHASE!

DID YOU KNOW?? The MFP (Main Force Patrol) Pursuit Special from Mad Max was a heavily modified Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe. Supercharged with 600 horsepower. The MFP is a small, underfunded group of highway patrol officers in a dystopian Victoria, Australia. But I guess they have enough funding for some serious cars!

Also in today’s PURSUIT BLAST… a Vintage snap with SPFX Wiz STAN WINSTON while working on a new film called “REGGIE” about a found Bigfoot Child which Stan was to direct. In development for several months, but sadly Stan passed away and the film dissolved.

Also… a MONSTER TRUCK PINTO? Well, why not? Plus, SPOCK loved cars and he especially loved his BUICK RIVIERA! Didn’t fit as many as the ENTERPRISE, but it was cool.

Today’s COMMISSION ART! This CHEVY MALIBU “CHEVHELL” client wanted something extreme… and that’s what Fireball does best! And a new version of Carson Lev’s 1960 CHEVY BEL AIR on a MUG! Should Fireball do more Collectible Chevy’s? LEAVE A COMMENT as to what you’d want him to SKETCH NEXT!

And lastly… rockin’ the Duke’s CHARGER through Malibu was a cool experience. Although nowadays might ruffle a few feathers… JUST A CAR, PEOPLE!

NEW BEST OF SHOW EPISODE TOMORROW and watch ART TALK LIVE this morning at 8am(pst) on FACEBOOK LIVE from Fireball’s Page!!

The World loses an Icon and friend to all… GENE WINFIELD

We all knew this day was coming. The day when our legendary icon in the car world GENE WINFIELD would move on to the greatest of all Car Shows. And the sadness worldwide would be tremendous. But like Gene… there was always a silver lining.

I first met Gene in the late 70’s and he was one of the most enigmatic, excited and talented people in an industry that I soon would call home. I was a teenager and was floored by his ability to multitask as a builder, stay cool under pressure and smile the whole time in that skinny body. I thought, “What the fuck, this guy is magic.” But the energy that exuded from his lean machine was the most powerful thing I had ever seen. He was already a legend in my mind. Living Folklore…

And over the next nearly 50 years, I would get a chance to watch Gene flourish, hear Star Trek Stories in his home and build with him on shows like Monster Garage. Even Jesse James was nervous when Gene and Daryl (Starbird) came over. But being along side him, not as a builder but as a Conceptualist who loved ideas, Gene would find the best car out there that would represent the direction he wanted to go… and then start from there. “If the best is that… then we’re gonna do THIS.” Oh hell yea, I love this guy.

I learned a lot about Automotive Hollywood Business and ideas from Gene, but the single greatest gift he gave me was the importance of being kind, no matter to whom. “When life gives you lemons… I go build a car,” he told me once. He taught me that a single smile could break down walls… a kind gesture could melt away pain… and an unexpected compliment could change someone’s life… for good. And I never forgot that.

Thank you, Gene. Thank you for being my friend. And a friend to everyone and even the prickly ones. And thanks for allowing us to tag along on your journey. All of us…

But as we wrap up Gene’s Epic Chapter, it’s now up to us to ensure that Car Culture grows and prospers. It’s what Gene would have wanted. And you know this because right now… he’s smiling at you like a silly skinny kid sittin’ on the chrome capped wheel in the shop… in overalls.

Join me in Gene’s Legacy to make Car Shows the place where we’re blessed to share stories, smile, laugh and love. Be like Gene… and be happy no matter what.

We’ll miss you, Grandmaster G…

Gene Winfield and Fireball Tim

MAD MAX, Magnum, Stuntmaster, Sophia Loren & Commission Art!

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE DAILY! New Feature today with Commission Art, but let’s start the Fireball rollin’ with these two great PRINTS! The MAD MAX INTERCEPTOR & MAGNUM PI FERRARI! (What would happen if they merged the two? Mad Magnum?? LIKE IT!!) Check out the Mugs, Canvas and Tees NOW!

DID YOU KNOW?? Universal Studios gave Tom Selleck a bonus of $350,000… which he spent on lavish gifts, such as Rolex watches, Porsches and $1000 bonuses for the entire cast and crew of Magnum, P.I. (1980). Selleck was originally cast as “Indiana Jones,” but was not able to take the role because he was committed to Magnum, P.I. Selleck also used a Colt 1911 pistol as his sidearm on the show. The actual gun was a 9mm that was adapted to fire blanks. Pew! Pew!

Also in today’s STUNT BLAST… Fireball hangs with buddy MASTER SIMON RHEE known for being Jackie Chan’s Stunt Double and many great films. Check him out here! Also, this Vintage Snap with SOPHIA LOREN and a Classic GULLWING MERCEDES! PLUS, Fireball on the hood of his MASK MUSCLE CAR as it appeared at THE LA AUTO SHOW back in 2005… and an ON-THE-STREET snap of Ventura 805! This town is awesome…
Today’s COMMISSION PROJECTS! First up, Fireball partnered with ZELATANGO for this one. The RED PANDA! Check out their IG and see what other AI COOL CARS you can spot. Also, the TOYOTA TACOMA DARK DRAGON was a Project last year for Projekt Cars, Heather Edwards of DOG & DRAGON and SEMA! Badass! What would YOU Commission Fireball to do??
CLASSIC TV BEHIND THE SCENES! Martin Landau and Barbara Bain from SPACE 1999! Should Fireball do the EAGLE?? Plus, Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and Director Hal Needham get ready for the next shot in 1977’s SMOKEY & THE BANDIT!
Today’s BEST OF SHOW! Fireball and SIMON RHEE talk Stunts at a Local Car Show! So funny! WATCH HERE ON FACEBOOK!

TANGO & CASH, Malibu Pad Gone, Oscars & CAR SHOW SAFARI!

Welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE!! It’s Monday and Fireball’s whipsnapped an all-new SKETCH for you guys! Today, it’s TANGO & CASH!! In Hollywood, the saying goes… “The Movie May Suck, but the CARS are always cool!” (Doesn’t mean that T&C was bad, but you get our drift.) But who doesn’t love a COOL CUSTOM TRUCK, yo!

DID YOU KNOW?? Tango & Cash was plagued by production issues, including a fired director of photography, a fired director, and a re-edited script. The original casting choice was Patrick Swayze, but he chose Road House instead, so Kurt Russell was cast! Jack Palance was unhappy with his role in the movie, saying he had three scenes with Stallone but they were all cut. (Bummer, ’cause that dood was badass…)

Also in today’s BADASS BLAST… Fireball’s Malibu Pad IS GONE, thanks to the Palisades Fire. Two doors down is Adam Carolla and his survived. Over a thousand Fireball Vlogs were filmed there, but life goes on now in the 805… and it’s awesome. Live your Life, Pivot, and Keep Going. Things always GET BETTER.

Fireball hit Peter Kappen’s Cars & Coffee (VISUALIZE VENTURA Photo Studio) and the Donuts were rockin.’ BEST OF SHOW Episode of Cool Cars is coming this week! Where do the silly big OSCARS come from? Fireball and Uncle Joe Benson know the Top Secret Location! Plus, BEHIND THE SCENES of CHiPs gets a cool Fireball Mug and don’t forget about CORVETTE SUMMER, too!

Today’s CAR SHOW SAFARI takes the boys to the Automotive Ranch of DWAYNE BOWER up in Ojai! AMAZING!! Watch HERE in Facebook!
